Welcome to series 21.2. Everyone. We have Daniel Khan and Patrick Keenan, back with us today to finish our characters for their new game. Ross rifles, currently on Kickstarter and currently doing very well. They have recently unlocked the medic playbook, which sounds really darn cool based on our discussion this series. So definitely check that out. If you get the chance. We'll get to the rest of the character creation right after this announcement. If you haven't heard yet, which you should have if you've been listening, but just in case a million I are both headed to a cat con again this year. And we have a fun Character Creation Cast panel in store for everyone on Sunday morning at 10am. It'll be a great way to wrap up the convention for many of you and we have plenty of tickets available. If you happen to be in the Dayton Ohio area and want to swim Buy the show, or go for the whole weekend, we do still have an extra badge for the convention that we will literally give away to someone for free. All you need to do is let us know you're interested and able to attend the convention. Or if you are already going, and you already have your ticket, maybe you would like a ticket for a friend. Just let us know, event registration is going on right now. So the sooner we can get this ticket in your hand, the better. I know most of my events are filled up some with a waiting list. So definitely check out what we're up to and see if you can drop it and say hi, we don't have any other announcements right now. We've both been very busy prepping for the con and living life as normal. And also Halloween is right around the corner. So nothing much else to report right now. So without further ado, let's get on with the show. Enjoy.

Ryan Boelter  2:29

Last time on Character Creation Cast, Daniel was created a scout. Patrick was created a scrounger. Amelia was creating knee replacement. And I was creating a creative. We're picking up right where we left off from the last episode. Right now. Enjoy.

Daniel Kwan  2:50

My personal items going to be what's your personal item Patrick? It's just a photo of the family. I think the photo of the family you know, I'm not in that much of a My great grandfather's psyche, I don't know what he was carrying around with him. I'm gonna McCarran is going to be he's, I think I'm gonna make him Japanese. I'm going to be Kenji Nakamura. Nice, nice.

Ryan Boelter  3:11

Okay, so this guy was a bridge builder before the war. So I'm going to say he designed bridges. And he has a photo of himself and his family in front of the first bridge that he designed and built.

Daniel Kwan  3:27

That's a good, that's a good one. Dang that that way better. And one of the cool things about the personal item is that it can actually be used to remove stress. So you can look at your photo once per session to remove one point of stress, or actually reroll a failed role.

Ryan Boelter  3:45

Close That's awesome.

Daniel Kwan  3:47

Almost like you're you're about to throw a grenade and you just you roll Snake Eyes. You're like, No, I'm going to use my personal Adam. I hold on to my pocket. Watch it. Think of my family. I tossed their grenade. You roll like a 13. Yeah, bonuses And it makes her something super dramatic. But also, the personal item was a way for us to kind of make the war have hope. And one interesting about the creative is that one of their moves can actually craft a new personal item for either yourself or another member of your section. So if you happen to lose yours, and there's a creative in your section, they can create a piece of art or something that, you know you hold on to as a fellow soldier. Yeah. Ryan, you're playing the creative, right? Yeah. What what was what kind of art Are you thinking of doing for your character?

Ryan Boelter  4:35

I know that they do. They probably do drafting, drafting, like, like, you know, blueprints and all that sort of stuff. So I'm wondering if it has something to do with with drawing.

Amelia Antrim  4:49

Like plans to like, improve these trenches. You just have like plans to make everything look nicer in here.

Ryan Boelter  4:57

I would imagine that I probably would have something to do with With with making the trenches a little bit safer as well, like more structurally sound and all that, that would be really sweet. I'm helping,

Daniel Kwan  5:09

I'm helping the scout actually gets to create a unique trench club. So what I did was mine is going to be a table leg. So I think if we were playing in the narrative, I would want the table that we have in our dugout to only have three legs to kill people with That's amazing. Okay, so I've done the left side. How about you too?

Ryan Boelter  5:36

Yeah, I think I'm all done with left I just need to figure out tools, my artistic tools, as they call it. Do we do we have a drafting table?

Daniel Kwan  5:46

You can have a drafting table in our dugout, what would it be made? It

Amelia Antrim  5:49

only has three.

Daniel Kwan  5:50

Baby the drafting table only has three legs.

Ryan Boelter  5:54

Yeah, the the dugout says as a creative I get my own personal dugout that I chose to conduct my creative work in. And when I wish to produce a work of art, I get to go in there and the gene will tell me if I need anything. So I'll have you made it unique. I think a drafting table works.

Daniel Kwan  6:14

That's awesome. Maybe he'll be a scout who's never killed. That's an interesting idea. Yeah, maybe maybe I've never killed and because I've never killed because I'm just I just tell I just get information. Because it like a scout doesn't have to kill. Right, right. I have a special project. I don't know what my special project should be a robot. No. Maybe it's a new drafting table, a new table, because I messed up our current one. And then one of my bonds can be I've seen you be wasteful of supplies because you've taken the table never killed anybody. There we go. That's amazing. Okay, I

Amelia Antrim  6:52

think for my personal item, I'm going to have a small us coin. This this person that I found, has a next of kin that lives in Pennsylvania.

Daniel Kwan  7:01

Oh, interesting. Yeah,

Amelia Antrim  7:03

yeah. So I think it's our father. So I think we're gonna say, have some,

Daniel Kwan  7:08

some American coins. Nice. So when you're done now Now, once you're done the left side, you would move into the the center column. And you would assign your values, the attributes in the order that they appear and then add one to any of them. Then you have questions and bonds. I often like to do the bonds last one every at the end, when everybody does their sort of introductions. Although Patrick, you re I think you already have a bond with me, right? Yes, but we can talk about that later. And then once you're done questions and attributes, you've you finished the first page of your character sheet actually, except for bonds. Awesome. I've taken lives for King and Country with toll has taken on me. I haven't taken a lot. You haven't taken any. I haven't taken any you feel like maybe maybe everybody thinks I have taken lives. Yeah. Yeah. You're a fraud of a fraud.

Ryan Boelter  8:00

How long have you been stationed on the Western Front?

Daniel Kwan  8:03

In that, and that depends on when our games gonna be taking place. Yeah. I mean,

Amelia Antrim  8:08

I feel like it's kind of toward the middle. It seems like 1916

Daniel Kwan  8:13

Yep, that works for for this hypothetical game. Yeah.

Ryan Boelter  8:17

Yeah. And for those of our audience that don't remember when World War One started,

Amelia Antrim  8:22

because they're Americans, and we don't learn about that.

Daniel Kwan  8:25

Even though you thought the war. Yeah, in America.

Amelia Antrim  8:29

We weren't as excited

Ryan Boelter  8:30

about that shows how our wonderful our education system is. Burn. Yeah.

Amelia Antrim  8:37

After the Great Depression, and so that's the one we care about.

Daniel Kwan  8:40

Yeah. So 1914 to 1918. Yep. But Canadians didn't arrive on to the front. What's it like? Well, they left actually October 4 1914. But they did not arrive until 1915. But what's the significance of October 4 Patrick a day our Kickstarter is launching. Oh,

Ryan Boelter  8:59

Daniel Kwan  9:00

Very nice segue, Patrick.

Ryan Boelter  9:05

So I'm gonna say two years then right

Daniel Kwan  9:06

now we can say two years, or I guess a year since we were you. You've been on the but you might have been any like, a lifted right away. Yeah. Right. So you've been, you just like get me on that boat. Get me to France right now is that the officers who need to be in France to get to France please. Once you get to France, I'll break my own uniform. It's just like, super old.

Ryan Boelter  9:32

That's this funny. It actually looks like this. This guy that I found was in London, Ontario on the 21st of February 1916. Hmm, interesting.

Daniel Kwan  9:47

Right that? So for my first question about like, what tool has it taken? I'm just going to write I have never killed what people think I have. And then a big bold letters. I'm going to write expectations.

Ryan Boelter  10:01

How do you express yourself artistically?

Daniel Kwan  10:03

You draft? Yeah, I think my special project will be like a drafting, you know, hook up the dugout with hook up the dugout with something. Yeah.

Ryan Boelter  10:13

Daniel Kwan  10:14

Amelia, what kind of questions do you have a while you take your allergy pills without without headphones without headphones. Yeah, it's all good. Have I made my rifle my own? I've never killed anybody. I bet it's just so clean. It's just so

Ryan Boelter  10:32

do you mark the rifle for every time you go scouting and people think that's how many people you've killed?

Unknown Speaker  10:42

Yes, yes, that's it.

Amelia Antrim  10:45

That's on them for making assumption. You didn't lie to them.

Daniel Kwan  10:48

Yep, I mark

Ryan Boelter  10:51

and every time it goes out, he gets one kill.

Daniel Kwan  10:52

Guys amazing. It's that table leg and it's just so clean and rust free.

Amelia Antrim  11:00

What happened to the private you are replacing

Daniel Kwan  11:03

who got dark? Maybe Yeah. So far we've got a pretty light hearted they could have just been you know relocated right? Oh my god you got the dental records up to Yeah, it's there's a lot of stuff you can pull off this website. We should put dental records on the play box no

Amelia Antrim  11:23

severe under buys,

Ryan Boelter  11:25

please attach your dental records here. What?

Daniel Kwan  11:32

let's mark my rifle every time I make it back from no man's land. I love that idea, Ryan.

Ryan Boelter  11:39

That's awesome.

Amelia Antrim  11:40

I want to say that the person I'm replacing was just like, I can't think of the what is the word? Oh my god

Unknown Speaker  11:46

promoted Oh, you're okay.

Amelia Antrim  11:49

They were they were just promoted and moved somewhere else. It's not even bad. It's just like, I'm not him. I like here's the

Daniel Kwan  11:57

only one of the playbooks actually is named after rank, so the replacement doesn't necessarily have to be a lower ranking soldier. That's true. So since this case since we don't have a surgeon playbook, Amelia might be the one in charge. You are the replacement sergeant.

Amelia Antrim  12:15

Oh, no, that would be

Daniel Kwan  12:17

I hope I hope you have

Amelia Antrim  12:19

replacement. I do not it is zero.

Daniel Kwan  12:23

Like this Like UD on the job, new boss. We're gonna have a little mixer in the dugout. Just don't

Amelia Antrim  12:33

know what's going on.

Daniel Kwan  12:36

Okay, sweet. Two of my questions are connected to each other.

Ryan Boelter  12:39

Oh, I have. I have a question.

Daniel Kwan  12:41

So yeah, I have a creative get to describe the dugout as part of their, their character and the scout actually gets to describe a truth about no man's land. Yep. So some of them actually have seen setting questions. My truth is that there are many. I want to say that there are stormtroopers waiting out in craters. Yeah. So we put that in just to give the GM a little bit of help in establishing the scene and allow the players to have some sort of contribution as well. So it doesn't feel like you know, we're just being told what's going on by the GM. Yeah, if the player player agency is really important to us, they even both in like our like, working at the museum level of gaming, giving players agency is super important and making the game educational. Sweet. I've done the first page of mine. I have really good broad awake, but I'm haggard, so I have to change that. I'm, I'm very I have. I'm going to give myself one broad. Darn I have to change everything. I wouldn't be really, really brave. I am going to be physically weak. I'm gonna have decent, decent. That should be minus two. You're looking at this wonder. Yeah, that's why Thanks, man. Oh, well. Already Yes, that is not in front of a minus minus 201. So I went to have high valor average as zero I, one wit and minus two and bronze and I am the scout. So right How are you folks to join

Ryan Boelter  14:18

the war effort? Think of all set of my attributes was back and forth on either valor wit as my highest but I think I ended up with valor because that's easier to comfort people. Yeah, I know what I was calling for

Daniel Kwan  14:33

you and always take a look at your label moves on a second stage. Oh yeah. As well as the basic moves which are also included

Ryan Boelter  14:42

there as well. Oh, no. Okay, come back to me.

Daniel Kwan  14:46

Now Oh, no. No, you're changing things. I might be one of the things we also did on on the on the move sheet was we tried to make it as accessible as possible. So Since they're there, are there a lot of PBTA games with a lot of moves? Yeah. So on our movie, we actually have icons next to the name of each move, indicating which attribute the rolled with. But also, for instance, like the faithful through adversity move, it has a medical harm icon next to it so that you know it helps you recover harm. Hmm. We want to be

Amelia Antrim  15:22

I really like that. I like that a lot of somebody who has a hard time like absorbing like paragraphs of information. That's incredibly helpful. Oh, wow.

Ryan Boelter  15:30

That's really that's really cool. I like that.

Daniel Kwan  15:33

We also picked a dyslexia friendly fun. Yes, thank you. What what font, if you don't mind me asking. We can get back to you on that from well.

Amelia Antrim  15:47

I mean, it's a it's a serif font, which helps a lot with that. Yeah. Makes it easier to tell like eyes from L's and

Daniel Kwan  15:54

Yep, that kind of stuff. Yeah, we tried. We tried to, we will our graphic designer did a really good job of making everything look clean? Mm hmm.

Ryan Boelter  16:04

Yes. Very good. I like the layout of these. These character sheets a lot.

Daniel Kwan  16:09

My favorite part is the icons I love. Yeah.

Ryan Boelter  16:13

Absolutely. Oh man. No, I don't know if to go with wit or Valley.

Daniel Kwan  16:17

Do you want to be you know, quick thinking or would you rather be brave?

Amelia Antrim  16:24

You want to be brave Ryan.

Daniel Kwan  16:26

But a year if you're the creative? Yeah,

Ryan Boelter  16:29

yes. Yes. Where I'm,

Daniel Kwan  16:30

that's where do you want to? Do you want to be an effective soldier or effective draft or a things? Amelia? What did you go for your highest attribute?

Amelia Antrim  16:38

I picked wit.

Ryan Boelter  16:39

Okay. Yeah, I'm gonna

Daniel Kwan  16:43

I went with wit as well for my highest. Oh, yeah. And then also, Braun is my second highest

Ryan Boelter  16:49

price. Okay. I think I'm gonna go with feller than sweet. Yeah, I think I'll stick with valor. So I've got valor at two. I have zero Wed at one and brought it minus one.

Daniel Kwan  17:03

My brand is minus two. Oh, no. nine zero. I have a one brand. So what brought you strong? And the guy who's Lyft and stuff that makes sense. As a scrounger? Yes, it does. Yeah, definitely does. So on the second page, you're going to choose your playbook move it depending on the playbook, you're going to get more choice. That one, some of them printed, like the scarred actually starts off with moves checked off. So does this ground here and the replacement and the creative creative as well. I think most of the new server, the sergeant in the scope, yeah. So you have some pre selected you get that means you get to pick an additional one rice, and both of my Skype moves imply that I'm competent at combat. Oh, no. I'm going to. I'm going to pick Stormtrooper minus two Bravo. Yeah. How to fix it. Hey, we said that we weren't going to make good Character. Yeah, this is made we're making narratively interesting. characters.

Amelia Antrim  18:00

Yeah, that's our favorite part of this job, like I said, is that we don't have to deal with any of the consequences of the decisions that we make. I mean, we get to make very interesting characters and that never have to see how horribly

Daniel Kwan  18:11

out of the night is funnier. I'm gonna pick out of the night.

Ryan Boelter  18:15

I'm picking call to action for mine. Oh, that's a good one. Yeah, so I can inspire courage and others in a moment without

Daniel Kwan  18:22

she Stormtrooper. The Scout move was one that we had to change most dramatically. Yes, that was the one that you just kill everyone. Yeah. That was a big play testing change that we can. Yeah, it is in our second play desk. Yeah, the move was originally like, it was it basically it was ambiguous enough that you could jump into a thing, roll the move and kill everyone in one move. And so that

Ryan Boelter  18:50

it's a little overpowered in a mechanical way.

Daniel Kwan  18:53

Yes, it was very mechanically overpowered.

Ryan Boelter  18:56

It also sounds like like an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.

Unknown Speaker  18:59

Daniel Kwan  19:01

It's true. Okay,

Amelia Antrim  19:04

I think I'm going to go with remember your training. That's good.

Daniel Kwan  19:07

That's a good one. We actually took remember your training from another sort of systematic thing we had in the game that we had ultimately removed? Yeah. But we liked the name and the Yeah, the name was great. But what it does, what it does is cool. We had a system in the version one built of Ross rifles called vigilance. And you've actually accumulate vigilance tokens that you could trade in for instantaneous effects. But we remove them because it would give you these instantaneous effects and then immediately take the spotlight away from you. Yeah, because you just do it. You just do it. Oh, that's not as fun. Yeah. So we reincorporated them as moves. So I was looking at the

Ryan Boelter  19:44

wrong sheet. Hello. Are you doing the moves for a different letter? The sergeant, I was looking at the sergeant. I don't know. So now I got to pick out different moves, but I get two moves off the bat as well. Yeah. One for dug out when you're looking for materials to help produce work of art, and then produce a work of art and use your materials who found to produce a work of art.

Daniel Kwan  20:10

Patrick did a really good job with that creative one. I like that.

Ryan Boelter  20:13

And then oh goodness. So I can either get appeal to their humanity or moment of inspiration to choose as well. Look at the schematics. There's so well

Daniel Kwan  20:25

drafted. Please don't kill me. I'm contributing

Daniel Kwan  20:31

as the scrounger I start with dig in which helps create improvise cover to protect us and I also have picked resupply which allows me to visit the quartermaster to obtain important supplies. However you roll valor and my valor is bad. So see really bad at negotiate. I'm bad at talking to the quartermaster.

Amelia Antrim  20:51

Maybe the corner masters like you again,

Daniel Kwan  20:53

you are not giving you anything. Maybe your character is constantly going there to get supplies but for the scout who may uses them. Yeah, here's, here's hornik that we have just like a dugout full of ammo.

Amelia Antrim  21:08

Just piles of stuff.

Daniel Kwan  21:09

So we've definitely made a competent, competent group of trend traders.

Ryan Boelter  21:14

Yeah, redo my stats. Again, Ryan I did. So I am choosing the move moment of inspiration for mine, which allows me to use my creative mind to see the battlefield in a new way. And I roll with eye on that one. So now I've got one for valor IN wit and minus one for Brian.

Daniel Kwan  21:39

Oh, yeah,

Ryan Boelter  21:40

nice, some kind of spread out. So now I basically am making use of all three of those with all three of my playbook blues. Nice.

Daniel Kwan  21:50

You definitely have a better build character than me. So then once once you've picked your moves, we're going to do introductions and then go into bonds. And so when we do introduction On the personal record, so your party notes, you could actually put everyone's name and a little bit of information about them. And that we've met that to be sort of where you record down other names as well like the quartermaster love tenant, the IBM PCs, and then his operation orders for your missions. All right, sorry. Are you ready to do introductions or he's still working?

Ryan Boelter  22:21

I'm just copying and pasting into my notepad

Daniel Kwan  22:24

noise. All right. I'm all set. How about you? Yeah,

Amelia Antrim  22:29

I think I'm ready. I've got my little note card here with lots of things on it. So

Daniel Kwan  22:34

awesome. Okay, so did just want to have you want to start with introductions introducing your character, or I can or Patrick can Yeah.

Amelia Antrim  22:42

I think you guys should go first. You are the guy. Okay. Do you want me Yeah,

Daniel Kwan  22:45

I can start here. Um, so my character is Thomas Vivian Keenan, who is my actual great grandfather. loosely inspired by my great grandfather. I picked the scrounger playbook. I have an ill fitting uniform and I have a thin appearance so they gave me a uniform that was too big for me. Which is why it's so fitting. I've brought from home the my wrench kit that I used to repair adding machines. That's my personal item. So hopefully that can help me you know, building some stuff for the group. I've just arrived here three weeks ago, so I have not seen any combat yet. And my trader calling before the word was an adding machine mechanic.

Daniel Kwan  23:27

My special project is working on a drafting table and area in our dugout for the creative to use for his drafting purposes. Nice.

Daniel Kwan  23:40

My character is Kenji Nakamura, I am the scout. Kenji is very, very sneaky because I picked the concealed bonus move. So I'm very good at blending in. I get plus one to all of my blended moves, which which is great because of a zero. And Kenji is a very, very talented Scout, but only in the matters concerning information gathering, not so much the killing part. Thanks to you, Ryan, I have a great bit of flavor for candy because KG actually has a table leg with nails. They're actually the nails that was used to hold the table like into the drafting table. And Kenji, his rifle is has all these tick marks for all the times he's gone over the top of the no man's land and back, but everyone thinks can use recording kills. So Kenji has this record of being this amazing killer. Yeah, almost like he's taking one life a day. He has these expectations to live up to even though he's never taken a life. And that's my character.

Ryan Boelter  24:47

That's amazing.

Amelia Antrim  24:49

All right, Ryan, do you want to go do you want me to I'm sure

Ryan Boelter  24:50

I can go. So my character I swapped the first and middle name of the real life person that I based my character off of Frederick Thomas bolter with an O instead of OE. And they are the creative and they were previously a bridge builder and designer before the war. And so they are, they do creative drawing and drafting in the trenches and help with designing better trench supports and all that sort of stuff. personal item that I had brought is a photo of my family and I in front of the first bridge that I had designed and was built.

Amelia Antrim  25:38

Nice, very nice.

Ryan Boelter  25:40

I have been stationed on the Western Front for half a year. And I express myself artistically through drawing and drafting. And how have I made the sections don't go unique. The structure of the dugout is not only more efficient than most others It is a bit artsy and geometric as well.

Unknown Speaker  26:03

Oh nice oh nice fancy yeah

Daniel Kwan  26:06

to do I think if I was the GM I would ask does does high commands know that you have a very fancy dugout

Ryan Boelter  26:16

I think it's like dining in a kind of a subtle way but like when when you're looking at it at certain angles things get kind of interesting. Cool.

Daniel Kwan  26:25

Yeah active. Hey,

Amelia Antrim  26:27

do we have like a like cool like MC Escher style dog?

Amelia Antrim  26:32

Oh, it should turn left but

Daniel Kwan  26:34

it actually turns right. Just in case we ever get raided.

Amelia Antrim  26:39

Yeah, they'll never find their way out.

Ryan Boelter  26:40

Yeah. And then the special move that I took was a moment of inspiration where I see the battlefield in a creative way and I can use that to my advantage for later

Daniel Kwan  26:51

maybe have like a portable bridge. Yeah, you can use to like walk cross craters and no man's land. Yeah. Oh, yeah.

Amelia Antrim  26:59

Oh, that's be neat and useful. Absolutely.

Daniel Kwan  27:02

All right. How about you, Amelia?

Amelia Antrim  27:04

Simon doing their replacement playbook. my character's name is algernon Gregory.

Amelia Antrim  27:10

algernon ALGERNON. And Gregory spelled like Gregory.

Ryan Boelter  27:16

Amelia Antrim  27:18

It's my my mom's maiden name, my brother's first name. Nice. Oh, nice. He wants to know some things about me.

Amelia Antrim  27:25

So for Look, I picked a youthful, and the uniform is fresh and Ill fitting. My personal item is some coins from the US because my father lives in Pennsylvania. I replaced someone who was promoted. So they were, I think probably well liked. And we're doing really well and then now I'm here instead of them. I was just assigned here. I didn't request this particular spot. Before the war, it was a it's a clerk, whatever that is. Doesn't say what kind of clerk just a quick are probably some kind of paperwork which makes me highly qualified. And one of the questions on here is why did you join the war effort? And I just push really believed in the cause. Nice. I'm just really I'm just really happy to be here just going to make some

Daniel Kwan  28:15

friends. It's like the new manager walk again. It's like Okay guys, let's do this. I feel like I've really in game I feel like my characters really done a disservice to everyone because to two characters, Amelia and Ryan's characters both rely heavily on a table

Amelia Antrim  28:38

I can't wait to see how many things go wrong and how many fights we have about this table

Daniel Kwan  28:43

right sec that's kind of where you get that that the light hearted moments in Ron's rifles. Hey, over a table

Amelia Antrim  28:52

Yeah, I mean, those are the kind of fun like interpersonal things that I love that happened in games. Yeah, that's like this is you know, this is a detail but overall, really isn't important to like the larger story of things that are happening. But we have found this one thing now that ties all of us together and it's a table

Daniel Kwan  29:08

and like I'd be one of the things we the GM could do is the GM would see like, Oh man, this group really is really into this table. And maybe while I'm kind of scouting no man's land with my with my rifle that I've never fired. The GM tells me that I actually see a beautiful table in the ruins no man's land. And

Amelia Antrim  29:30

do you want to attempt to drag this table but I can't

Daniel Kwan  29:33

do it because I have minus two bronze so you need to get the rest of the party on the side. So the whole party goes out into debates land together to go get this table. Baby we get to a very vicious gunfight and we come out of it with just one table leg, but that's enough to annex our broken table. Exactly. So now we're done with it instead of a brand new table. We have a worn out table with a really nice table leg session of the game.

Ryan Boelter  30:01

Yeah, that's awesome.

Amelia Antrim  30:03

I would I would play the crap out of that game. Okay.

Daniel Kwan  30:06

Packer game on Kickstarter.

Daniel Kwan  30:10

So now that we've all introduce ourselves, we have to write our bonds and then we're done yet boxing and that's last.

Daniel Kwan  30:16

One of you like to go first read out your first bond, and we'll see if we have some synergies here. Okay.

Amelia Antrim  30:22

I will start. So the first one I have listed here it says, blank gave me a hand when I first joined a section. I owe them So who would have been helpful? Ryan?

Daniel Kwan  30:36

Ryan Boelter  30:37

Ryan is always the nice one. I would definitely lend a hand for whatever.

Amelia Antrim  30:43

Okay, what did I need help with you think?

Ryan Boelter  30:46

Let's see. So your new Oh, navigating the the slight oddities of the trench with the improvements that I had made nice See it on twisted English here.

Amelia Antrim  31:01

What is your character's name? Thomas?

Ryan Boelter  31:03

Unknown Speaker  31:04

Amelia Antrim  31:06

Hey, just kind of helped me get a queen. Hey,

Daniel Kwan  31:08

Ryan, what's your first bond?

Ryan Boelter  31:10

Uh, someone has done something to inspire me. I see them as my muse.

Daniel Kwan  31:16

Mm hmm. inspire your drafting?

Amelia Antrim  31:20

Yeah, maybe it's that fancy your table

Daniel Kwan  31:23

maybe it's the new table that new table I spotted and no man inanimate object that would be a first for me. Yeah. And you can always use your bonds to flush out and PCs as well if you want it if Yeah, yeah.

Ryan Boelter  31:38

Okay. Um, let's go with me that means I'm thinking Patrick Character Daniels Character. For this one either those could work. One because Daniel took the table leg, or Kenji took the table. I'm thinking well now I need to figure out a way to, you know, be creative with my drafting with only three table legs.

Daniel Kwan  32:06

So even delay, I put you at a disadvantage. I inspired you to be creative.

Ryan Boelter  32:12

Yeah, I like find creative solutions for that. And then the other thought was the scrounger. Thomas, trying to scrounge together stuff for a new drafting table.

Daniel Kwan  32:25

Yep, that can work as well. That one's more pragmatic. Yeah,

Ryan Boelter  32:28

yeah. All right. We'll go with we'll go with Thomas for that one. Okay. So yeah, the the whole wanting to create a drafting table. We've probably bonded over the the art of drafting and whatnot. And now I'm inspired.

Daniel Kwan  32:48

Okay, nice. I think for my first one, during the last trench raid, I saved blank. They now trust me with their life. I'm going to say it can't be algernon, because algernon is very New, huh? Who would I who would I say it because I wouldn't be through killing anybody. Yeah, maybe. Maybe it's a you know what I'm gonna put a mascot Yeah, I'm gonna say I saved a cat for being killed by I don't know I saved like during during a battle maybe there was a cat and we got rated and I was trying to reposition or it looked like I was repositioning to fire back at the enemy but I was just being a coward and I grabbed I wouldn't say a puppy. I grabbed a puppy. And now we now have and we don't have a trench puppy. And everybody's like, oh God, Antonio,

Amelia Antrim  33:44

Antonio, the trench puppy.

Unknown Speaker  33:46

Daniel Kwan  33:49

and everybody thought it was so brave because not only was I air quotes, killing the enemy. I also saved a puppy, adding more to the lies of my heroics

Amelia Antrim  34:01

That's so good.

Ryan Boelter  34:03

Antonio the trench puppy mascot.

Amelia Antrim  34:06

I love that. It's it's not that like you're actively lying. It's just that everybody around you is making all of these. Right?

Daniel Kwan  34:14

There's not I like I didn't say on our we're gonna we're playing a livestream tomorrow. I think we're going to play this character. Yeah.

Daniel Kwan  34:23

So my first bond is about our battalion Quartermaster. So it's about an NPC. So I'm going to say that his name is corporal white. And they sometimes vanish me to get special supplies I want to say because they think that Kenji is using them to be an effective,

Daniel Kwan  34:41

effective fresh writer, so they're giving me the supplies to pass on to you.

Amelia Antrim  34:45

Daniel Kwan  34:47

That's awesome. Amelia, what's your next bond? Let's see.

Amelia Antrim  34:53

My next bond. Blank is teaching me how to blank so I can be a more effective member of This section

Daniel Kwan  35:02

I think maybe my character will be teaching definitely about mechanics or something maybe how to be a cat. It could be for me it could be how to sneak around no man's land or that as well. Even though you're not an effective killer, you know how to hide. I do know how to hide. I'm very good at hiding.

Amelia Antrim  35:16

But do you want anybody to know how not effective you are? It kills me maybe I

Daniel Kwan  35:21

don't know that people think I'm a good killer. Like why is everybody so weird around me? Why do we keep getting older?

Amelia Antrim  35:32

I'm like, I don't I don't really want that sounds really dangerous. Now it's really not.

Daniel Kwan  35:36

Me Baby. Can you just super naive? Yeah, maybe about haggard, I think I'm youthful.

Amelia Antrim  35:42

I think that I would love to go out and explore no man's land with you and find out exactly what you're up to out there. See the truth

Daniel Kwan  35:49

that might be kind of fun. Maybe you've heard about my exploits. And this is you wanting to be effective on the battlefield and learn about no man's land. So if we

Amelia Antrim  35:59

like I want to prove myself I'm new here I want to go out with the most dangerous soldier ever okay

Ryan Boelter  36:08

looks like we didn't see anybody this time that we could easily take out we better go home

Daniel Kwan  36:12

Kenji Why are you Why are you carving on your rightful? Well I made it back.

Amelia Antrim  36:22

No, but we didn't we didn't see anybody.

Daniel Kwan  36:25

But that's not what I'm marking every day every day I go I make it background no man's land. I carve using my Japanese woodworking knife which is my personal item.

Ryan Boelter  36:36

I carve here I thought you were using the nail from the tape.

Daniel Kwan  36:43

Oh my god, yes. I use this nail to carve in a new not a new number for every single time I come back safe. Another day, you

Amelia Antrim  36:54

know, that's not what everybody thinks days without incident.

Daniel Kwan  36:59

What do you do? kill someone you don't want to kill somebody don't get to put anything there.

Amelia Antrim  37:06

So good.

Daniel Kwan  37:08

This is a Black Adder episode. Yeah. Episode.

Ryan Boelter  37:15

Okay, so really we got your second one. Ryan, what about you? So my second one is someone and I know each other from home. They helped me obtain materials for my art. I kind of want to go with Emilio scalar Character algernon.

Amelia Antrim  37:29

Oh really because I feel like a scrounger would be best able to help you find true

Ryan Boelter  37:33

but I already have Thomas for my inspiration.

Daniel Kwan  37:36

Yeah. Maybe Thomas is a new new friend who can do this right? Mm hmm.

Amelia Antrim  37:42

Alright, so I hope you find things for your art. Yeah,

Ryan Boelter  37:44

you help me obtain materials for my art. So you were a clerk before, right? Yes. Maybe you were a clerk for your firm. The bridge building company. Oh,

Daniel Kwan  37:58

yeah, that'd be cool. All these characters are just coming together. Yeah. All right. Who's I think that's me. Blank head. I often butt heads when strategizing. Mm hmm. Well, I think so, Amelia, since you're like, you're the replacement of your replacing our leader. Is your character all about like getting things done? Oh, no. Okay, so that we don't butt heads at all. Could I could I

Ryan Boelter  38:25

offer myself for that one? Yes. Because that would work out perfectly with my bond. My last bond.

Daniel Kwan  38:31

Okay. Frederick. Frederick. Yeah. Frederick and I often butt heads when strategizing. Yes. So so I want to hear your last bond now.

Ryan Boelter  38:39

Yeah. So my last Bond was somebody does not believe that my art has a place on the front lines. Oh, dang. That's really good. And so I'm determined to prove that my creativity has value to the war

Daniel Kwan  38:51

effort. This is why I took the table leg. Yeah, that's

Ryan Boelter  38:54

what I was thinking. Like, you were like this does not have a place here. I'm taking this table like this. mine now. And now you're going to be, you know, messed up with your drafting.

Daniel Kwan  39:05

I like that. Patrick, what's your second one? My second one is blank has helped me with my projects in the past. I owe them a favor. I think that would probably work with Frederick the best. Yeah. Because we're kind of you know, working together on this drafting table stuff. So yeah. Nice. That's an easy one. Yeah. Amelia, you. Do you have any more?

Amelia Antrim  39:24

Yeah, my last one is blank has seen me make a critical error. I have to work extra hard to prove myself. So I feel

Daniel Kwan  39:30

like that's an NBC. Yeah, that that might be like a higher command officer or something like our left tenant. Yeah, maybe. Yeah.

Amelia Antrim  39:39

Oh, poor algernon.

Amelia Antrim  39:43

All right. What do we name this? This person?

Daniel Kwan  39:46

name was born. Yep. Stan hope just very old timey English sounding name Lee. Richard Richards.

Amelia Antrim  39:56

Yeah, we could do Richards that's what did I do? What did I mess up?

Daniel Kwan  40:00

Richards Okay, and then Ryan you've done your last one. Yeah. Okay, so my last one is blank and I are the only survivors of an enemy raid. We survived because of blank. I don't know who that would put Antonio oh my god baby I told you are the only survivors of a raid? Yeah, that's when you saved him That's why I saved him. I have to do that

Ryan Boelter  40:24

oh and who you're it you have to be saved by somebody else as well.

Daniel Kwan  40:28

No, Antonio and I are the only survivors of an enemy raid we survived because we ran. Oh, so my last one is I've seen blank be wasteful with our supplies. If I see it again, I'll bring it up to the left tenant. I think that has to be Kenji. Oh, we have to upset so and those are my bonds. Maybe you can't explain why candies getting all these kills. Yeah, no ammunition is disappearing from our dugout. Sir Phantom bullets,

Ryan Boelter  40:56

one for one. I just grabbed some Bullets off the places I'm scouting and

Daniel Kwan  41:03

Exactly. Maybe Kenji so hardcore, he takes bullets from the dead. Oh no she then there's an area for a custom bond that's usually used when you level up when you advance when you advance. You can do that a number of ways. If you see at the top right, you see experience you need for per advance, you can get experienced by resolving bonds or completing objectives when you get four. And of course, you resolve a bond, you can add a new custom bond below. When you level up, you can also increase naturally by one to a max of three, or you can pick a new playbook move. Cool. Yeah. And so we had that's character creation for Ross rifles. Yep. Awesome. We made people

Ryan Boelter  41:49

this is great.

Amelia Antrim  41:50

We did it made people this is this was a lot

Daniel Kwan  41:54

of kanji Thomas. Frederick, algernon

Ryan Boelter  41:58

Dantonio and then Antonio,
