Welcome to the end of our action packed bolt character creation session with RJ Pandey everyone before we get to the episode first some announcements as usual.

Amelia Antrim  0:12

First up the both Kickstarter has funded but they still need help to unlock those sweet stretch goals sweet, sweet stretch goals. That stretch goal unlocks the settings that we've actually discussed in this series, including the gunfire and farming art setting that we created characters for and the legends of neerim setting.

Ryan Boelter  0:33

Yeah, both of those sound really fantastic and my goodness some of the stretch goals in this are pretty fantastic. The top tier stretch goals are actually funding grants to marginalized creators to create settings for bolt or modules.

Amelia Antrim  0:51

Yeah, which would be like so awesome. I just I'd love to see all of the cool stuff. That's one thing that I love about this game too is just I am really excited to see the stock That people come up with for it.

Ryan Boelter  1:01

Yeah, absolutely. And it's just what Jay had intended with it. And I think that's remarkable. So yeah, head on over there and check that out. Other Kickstarters that we mentioned last week, the campaign sky Jack's album, that one has also fully funded and at the time of this recording has completed all of the original stretch goals, which is remarkable. They just blew through all of those.

Amelia Antrim  1:27

Yeah, they're like six times funded right

Ryan Boelter  1:30

now. Yeah, something like that. It's Yeah, yeah. If you enjoy the music of sky chaps and couriers call and if you really like Arnie, parrots, wonderful, wonderful skills at the music, then go ahead and fund that. Definitely check that one out. And another one that we mentioned last time, the academy con 2021. That one also is funded. Yeah. That one's also passed all the stretch goals. Yeah. So if you want tickets to the online Academy con this year, and tickets to a cat a con 2021 ahead of time, go ahead and back that one as well.

Amelia Antrim  2:11

Aside from great, amazing Kickstarters The other thing that we think is amazing reviews,

Ryan Boelter  2:18

reviews,

Amelia Antrim  2:20

reviews. If you want to support this show with zero monies. Go ahead and leave a review on Apple podcasts pod chaser or pod catcher of your choice, and we will find it there. We will read it for you on air like this one from ever Forever unique on pod chaser. Go listen to these fine folks create characters and talk about the system they're using to do so

Ryan Boelter  2:44

you won't regret it. Short and sweet. Thank you so much ever, forever unique. Thank you.

Amelia Antrim  2:50

We sincerely hope you don't regret it. And you know what? Let's be honest. If you do, it's too late.

Ryan Boelter  2:57

You've already listened. You've already listened.

Ryan Boelter  3:06

Well with all of that out of the way, let's get on with the show.

Amelia Antrim  3:09

Enjoy.

Ryan Boelter  3:44

In the last episode of Character Creation Cast, RJ was creating a mercenary driver. Amelia was creating the professional lawyer, and I was creating the john McClane type of character as a mercenary investigator. We're picking up right where we left off last time. Enjoy.

Ajey Pandey  4:05

So with that, let's get into roles. Um, so if I remember correctly, Amelia is going the professional route. Yes. And Brian is going the scoundrel route. And I'm going the mercenary route. What a good coincidence.

Ryan Boelter  4:19

Well, I think I went Um, no, we reverse co investigator shiner investigator. Yeah, right. So we're both very, cuz I'm a I'm a rabble rouser

Ajey Pandey  4:30

You are indeed. You're gonna be very fun rabble rouser. Sweet. So now we get to roles and roles are o l, e. m. r. They're kind of like your classes, but a more of the role to kind of figure out like, what's your role in the party? Hmm. So for all of these, you basically kind of run down this little multiple choice little thing, you circle what you want. So you get a boost one of your core attributes. We get a recall interest and we'll get to interests Get languages we'll get the language as well. And then you get a bunch of skills. Okay? So yeah, I guess we'll start piece by piece. Um Let's start with core attributes. I believe the professional gets one of the professional kept for

Ryan Boelter  5:15

crash reboost

Amelia Antrim  5:16

I get either knowledge or charisma.

Ajey Pandey  5:20

You get to choose what you get. I believe mercenaries get other fortitude or reflex.

Ryan Boelter  5:25

Yeah, boost up my reflex I think,

Unknown Speaker  5:28

go with charisma.

Ajey Pandey  5:30

three inch is gonna go for more reflex. All the better for doing the stance behind the wheel. Mm hmm. Next we get to recall interest. Now your interests in in bolt. I got the inspiration from some of the weirder skills you can get in cyberpunk 2020 where you can get you can pull ranks into mathematics, physics and botany. for no good reason.

Ryan Boelter  6:02

Yeah,

Ajey Pandey  6:04

I think Mike Ponce was trolling, everyone's like, yeah, you can get really really good at a chemistry for all that's gonna do you in the dark future of 2020. But I like that idea. So your interest is the thing that you're a weird nerd about. Okay. So for, for I've heard people do as interests like number theory, photography, Jedi fan fiction,

Ryan Boelter  6:33

the works.

Amelia Antrim  6:34

Nice. So you have some listed in here. Can I put points into those? Or do I have to make up my

Ajey Pandey  6:40

own or recommend you make up your own something fun and situational? Oh, yeah. It'll show up once in the entire campaign and you'll feel it. You'll feel amazing when it does.

Amelia Antrim  6:51

You feel like a hero in that moment where you're like I have a thing for this.

Ajey Pandey  6:56

Yes. And it is especially fun Good.

Amelia Antrim  7:02

I'm gonna go with out of print role playing games.

Unknown Speaker  7:05

Yes.

Unknown Speaker  7:09

JOHN?

Ryan Boelter  7:12

Oh, that's fantastic.

Ajey Pandey  7:14

Um, what is three inches is gonna be, um,

Amelia Antrim  7:18

put two points into that. Yeah, um,

Ajey Pandey  7:23

I don't know the answer is gonna have for his, um, I want to say he is really into open wheel racing and to ranks. I'm, I'm currently on the john McLean Wikipedia article

Ryan Boelter  7:44

trying to figure out what john McClane has for a hobby.

Ajey Pandey  7:48

And this is where the real interest because most entertaining is for the it's for the characters that are normally typecast is not very bright, but now they have an option to like Be the one who knows a particular thing.

Ryan Boelter  8:02

I'm going to put a I'm going to split them up one point in law. And one point in westerns.

Ajey Pandey  8:09

Yeah. I'm up guy up, Kai. Yay. We'll figure out how to figure out what westerns look like and fantasy the by. Uh huh. But we'll put that down. We'll see what what kind of slow action movies come up in this world.

Amelia Antrim  8:28

I hope that it's just like, friends. Like that's what is West? No,

Ajey Pandey  8:32

I think it's surely surely is a very, very, it's an iconic like 70s bollywood movie. Um, that's it's basically a Western. It's a western India.

Amelia Antrim  8:43

All right. All right.

Ajey Pandey  8:46

So then we get to languages languages. You don't roll for languages, they're just flat values, the term of fluency. So one rank is you know, the important words bathroom, help. flunk out of ammo, please die if you would be important to you know enough to like, you know enough to like order food or you know, go to a restaurant, but it's very much like your your broken language that three ranks, you know enough to speak, though with a heavy accent. If someone talks too fast it goes over your head for his fluency. And five is, you know enough to write poetry. So you start with four ranks and any language that was spoken in the place you grew up in. Do we want to say all of our characters kind of grew up in summer?

Ryan Boelter  9:41

It would be ideal, probably. Cool.

Ajey Pandey  9:44

Yeah, all of us have four ranks in the language policy. So I will spell that for you all. Thank you. And policy, it's that B. It's like if you have a B but also you say, well, you say the B, but a C. It's a weird Hindi phoneme. I don't expect you to have it. But that's their, that's your nuts, the language you grew up speaking at home. If you were in a multilingual place, you'd have two or three languages. Because that's, that's the Diaspora experience. Mm hmm. However, if you also get extra languages, you get extra languages courtesy of your role. If you're a mercenary, you get one rank in three languages. Yeah. Because then your travels around the world shooting people. You learn the the swears in multiple languages. That's one of the things that the mercenary gets terms of knowledge is that broad set of languages. I won't give you the list of languages as well. Because the beauty of hiring setting writers is you get a bunch of actual fancy language now. I'm including and I'm going to struggle to pronunciation I'll put it where I put this. I'll put it in your character sheets at the very bottom and you can kind of filter in the ones that speak to you. Can I? Yeah, it's Command Shift fee. Why is it there we go. So it's an alias sheet at the very bottom on the next page. And for reference, as Accorsi is written, was put together by someone by orillia. Publishing, you know, based out of Croatia of A is courtesy of Aaron radney. He basically took like the black American experience and gave it like fantasy legends status. Um, Gabbana is courtesy of Mercedes Acosta. That's kind of a paynow style. All Weather is by armour and then unleashed a moment Win is by Eli of a patent troll company. And that is more of an odawa styled culture, race. So I'm going to say, I'm going to say, three ends and we'll get to names for your characters as well. I have a list of those nose ranks and Gabbana was one of a US one. And initially going nice to double check the presentation of someday

Ryan Boelter  12:29

farming with a WETA because of Amr, um, and then cabana and Zipcar C suite,

Amelia Antrim  12:40

I get plus two in one or I can raise one, raise my native from four. So we're gonna go with

Unknown Speaker  12:50

a whiter suite.

Amelia Antrim  12:54

Okay.

Ryan Boelter  12:55

All right, what's next? languages? Yep.

Amelia Antrim  12:57

Um, let's see. I've got some nice skills I get to pick?

Ajey Pandey  13:01

Yes Because you're the professional you get all it is implied that you went to college. So you get a bunch of recall skills a Ryan we get, um, we get some more applicable skills.

Ryan Boelter  13:18

Yeah.

Ajey Pandey  13:20

So first we get to pick up plus one of either indoor or resist physical so indoor, basically the way health system works is if you run under vitality you drop and you have to make a check to literally fight through the pain to keep going. And that's a good word. Um, so if you would like that that's there or resist wrinkles like you're getting out of grapples type thing.

Ryan Boelter  13:42

In tour sounds very john McClane, so I have to go with that.

Ajey Pandey  13:48

I'm gonna go resist physical. I'm kind of just go down the line from there.

Ryan Boelter  13:53

Yeah.

Ajey Pandey  13:55

Oh, jury rigged. Jerry ray is what you use. To fix things when they're bullets flying over your head.

Ryan Boelter  14:02

Yeah, that seems useful. That sounds that sounds. I mean, he's kind of throwing things together in the middle of combat, not like MacGyver style, but works better than no, he's also bandaging himself up a lot.

Ajey Pandey  14:19

Yeah, you must Madison's pretty useful.

Ryan Boelter  14:21

I'm going to do that step set seems more fitting.

Ajey Pandey  14:24

And I'm going to give three inch run leap. He's in a wheelchair, so he's not doing a lot of leaping but he's got his stunts. I'm assuming I shoot light is like pistols and stuff, right? Because pistols and SMGs um, perfect let me know if you don't get any shoot heavy. Because I may let I may let you switch to shoot heavy for that big boy shotgun by

Ryan Boelter  14:50

just just john McClane use a shotgun often though, I don't know. Mostly pistol right. Thanks. So like he's he's got his Like standard issue like police pistol that he's just messing people up with and then the occasional submachine gun, then yeah, guys, I'm sure he can use a shotgun but

Ajey Pandey  15:12

you're behind a reflex a little that you'll figure it out

Ryan Boelter  15:15

Yeah, I got plus four oh my

Ajey Pandey  15:19

god if you're rolling plus five and bolt you're a high roller. Nice sweet Amelia How are you doing?

Amelia Antrim  15:26

I'm doing okay I could pick utilize engineering utilize medicine or recall law. So I picked recall law because I just can't imagine that I'm really good at medicine or engineering. Just

Ryan Boelter  15:40

Ah, I'm having a tough time. Last one. Um, between apply force, a coerce, and run leap. Like they're all john McClane. Right.

Amelia Antrim  15:54

I would go with run leap. He's constantly like sliding behind things true like dive Cover,

Ryan Boelter  16:02

like half of what he does, and leaping off of buildings and stuff.

Amelia Antrim  16:07

Mm hmm. Yeah. I mean, is there like ill advised sleeping.

Ajey Pandey  16:13

I think that's one leap with some tenacity on top. Right. Also, I finally picked my I picked three inches. Background specialism, a background incentive, and it's going to be did I ignore my own advice? Hmm. Oh, very good. Nice. Um, speaking of incentives, Amelia, have you gotten your skills? Are you I mean, help you out with that?

Amelia Antrim  16:38

I am. I'm trying to decide here because there's charm, go command persuade, like all of those are like, different ways to get what so

Ajey Pandey  16:48

what persuade I'll give a little back on these skills. They work a little bit differently, um, persuade you actually have to make the argument. Um, right. charm is just gonna kind of say what they want and go command is a mix of like, moving a crowd, but also getting under people's skin and making them want to punch you.

Amelia Antrim  17:10

Right which I'm really into. Definitely.

Unknown Speaker  17:14

Hey,

Amelia Antrim  17:17

um, and then yeah, I think I'll go with persuade we're not gonna charm anybody. And then I honestly for the starting role incentive I want to go with did i tell someone else what to do before?

Unknown Speaker  17:34

before?

Ryan Boelter  17:35

Ah, how about fancy john McClane once he got the first three of these incentives are very john McClane. Did I make threats to gain an advantage? Did I use violence to solve a problem? Did I pull a dangerous and flashy stunt? I'm kind of leaning towards did I use violence to solve a problem beautiful because that that seems to be The whole deal

Ajey Pandey  18:04

I'm going with did I pull a dangerous and flashy stop for three inch because you know driver. Mm hmm. And then at this point you'll also want to pick an encounter incentives on camera setups are worked the same way but they fire at the end of every encounter which usually as a combat encounter sometimes is your pretense you tense negotiations that end in firefights.

Ryan Boelter  18:29

Yeah, that was easy for me.

Ajey Pandey  18:30

So for those again, like, this is like, this is like your side bet. Like now you have your main objective. But here's the thing that gives you an extra push to go in a different direction.

Ryan Boelter  18:40

Mm hmm. I just went with Did I kill someone

Ajey Pandey  18:43

nice. I'm gonna go with because these sounds are meant to be something you can kind of tweak on your own. I'm gonna go with did I keep everyone else out of trouble and race. Again, going with the theme of a driver who's a bit of a curmudgeon. has a bit of an I told you so. vibe to them. But also either dangerous personally like the danger or otherwise he wouldn't be doing this. Yeah. The professional gets the funding counter incentives.

Ryan Boelter  19:14

Oh, nice. I kind of skipped ahead to investigator now, but it's

Unknown Speaker  19:19

so good. How are you doing Amelia?

Amelia Antrim  19:22

I'm doing good. I also picked um, did I make a strategy beforehand? Was my encounter incentive? Um, which the answer is 99% of time. We know. But that's okay. That's okay.

Ajey Pandey  19:38

I mean, it's one thing to make the strategy is nothing to follow through. Right.

Amelia Antrim  19:45

That's true. I can make a plan. It does. It doesn't say did. Did you make

Ajey Pandey  19:50

did you make the plan? Uh huh. It was never gonna go right. No, that's not a job. The YouTube video

Ryan Boelter  20:00

The plan is you to go in and just mess things up.

Ajey Pandey  20:03

There you go. The plan is really wrong. Yep.

Unknown Speaker  20:11

And with that,

Ajey Pandey  20:14

we get to a specialization. So this is where we get the actual flavor. Um, as much as we get as much as the rolls are fun, this is where we get the flavor. And where I start giving you some suggested equipment. That's not an exhaustive list, but more of the things that you do, and you can kind of add stuff on top of that as things progress. So Ryan's going for the investigator? Yep. three inches gonna go for driver. I'm believing Emily, you're going for a lawyer. Right? Beautiful,

Amelia Antrim  20:43

huh? This specialization incentives. No. Did I talk my way out of serious trouble or did I fast talk someone into implicating themselves or agreeing to something tilted in my favor? Those are both very good.

Ryan Boelter  20:57

Yeah, like these incentives a lot. I went for my incentive did I find a clue to someone or something I'm following eautiful Don't forget the skill boost you get. You get some skills. I know. All you pick two, you pick two. Yes. Okay, so I went with run leap. So that puts my run leap to three

Ajey Pandey  21:17

on top of your fortitude, like you're gonna be making those dots.

Ryan Boelter  21:20

All right, oh, so by four to two, it's also a three. So that's a plus six for running, running leap. I want to say either search or drive I don't know search

Ajey Pandey  21:32

the way search works in in bolt is you more often than not find what you're looking for. The role is more for how cleanly you do it and how quickly Okay, it's like filling a search check is you tear apart the room and make a big mess of it. Or you find it but immediately you hear 20 goons coming down the hallway. Oops.

Ryan Boelter  21:55

Yeah, I think I want to go a search probably um Whoo. Let's I want to put my recall law up to three

Amelia Antrim  22:05

minds at three.

Ryan Boelter  22:08

I mean, that's fair. And Chad McLean. This character's knowledge is zero, but, uh, no, I'm gonna go search too. Yeah, that's fine.

Ajey Pandey  22:20

No movie cops no law actual cops Simpson. Oh yeah.

Unknown Speaker  22:25

You're already What?

Unknown Speaker  22:29

Uh

Ajey Pandey  22:31

What is my specialization sign of? I'm the driver, get some fun ones. Did I do something foolish and make it work? Or did I push my vehicle beyond reasonable limits? Um, I'm gonna lean into the background. It's enter that I put together and put in. Did I do something foolish and make it work nice. So that three inch has the has the vibe of starting with please be cautious. Don't get yourself jump cut to the end of the episode.

Ryan Boelter  23:05

Okay, I love the suggested equipment because it fits john McClane so well. Um, so get clothing that lets you blend into the background and a reliable pistol. I always feel in those movies. He's always like just wearing normal clothes. Like there's no there's no clothing that's like, yeah, this is a police officer that's kind of just here. It's just like he's on his day off. And all this stuff starts happening. Like, gosh, please come on.

Ajey Pandey  23:40

And we've mentioned the garb that lawyers get, right.

Amelia Antrim  23:44

Yes, get a sharp suit, a very nice pen, and a directory of friends and enemies and high places.

Ajey Pandey  23:52

You can also give yourself a gun if you would like I don't know if you have any skills and guns, but I got none. You can certainly have a gun anyway. That's not gonna stop. You need

Amelia Antrim  24:03

a gun

Ajey Pandey  24:06

yeah and we'll get to the stats for guns in a little bit. Um for the driver suggests equipment is clothing that shows people how cool you are. Hmm. A weapon you could shoot with one hand at a vehicle you would kill the back so, three inch is going to have the James Dean red jacket and a bright red wheelchair suitable for basketball. So I don't know if you've seen like if you see wheelchair basketball things are all have these like really cool Space Age frames and like really like camera. stance, two wheels.

Amelia Antrim  24:42

Yeah, they weren't really like light or something along start there. Mm hmm.

Ajey Pandey  24:46

Yeah, it's like, it's like, oh, there's it's it's wild to watch wheels wheelchair basketball. One OPT only by wheelchair

Amelia Antrim  25:00

I've never watched we'll need to holy cow that will be so good reference.

Ajey Pandey  25:05

It's sometimes called preserved sometimes called.

Amelia Antrim  25:10

I mean, if rugby isn't to begin with, I'm the only one of my siblings that didn't play rugby. My brother formed our local team like a year after me. Um, I've watched a lot of rugby It is dangerous.

Ajey Pandey  25:24

It is dangerous. Um I don't know if anyone's watched like that like Death Race reboot that happened in like 2012 the wheelchairs looked like they come out of pocket couple spikes in it becomes

Ryan Boelter  25:41

flame surely No.

Ajey Pandey  25:44

Two three inch has the bright red basketball chair. Um, he's got an SMG nice cuz of course he said try. I'm dodging spike scripts. I

Ryan Boelter  25:57

am one of these is bound to hit

Ajey Pandey  26:01

You know, essentially uh you know it's it's it's the it's the logic of if you if it's the logical fighters in d&d you roll the 20s enough eventually solid now it's

Amelia Antrim  26:15

just math.

Ajey Pandey  26:16

It's just math. And let me get his van j went into detail about it's called the it's a condition auto racer van with a 650 cubic inch okay got from a completer from there. It's not very fast but it's a tank if you have you played Burnout Paradise, huh? Okay. Okay, it's basically it's 18 van Okay, he has a big boys duel bad boy. So that's three inch

Ryan Boelter  26:57

right now got the 18 song stuck in my head. All right. I got my beautiful soul here.

Ajey Pandey  27:06

All right, what's next? What's next? I think we get we get we have everyone get strapped and I think that's our starting character. Hmm. And we'll get to feats because feats are fun. But first we'll get to we'll go all the way down to the bottom to look for items. So bolt doesn't really care about encumbrance very much cuz I don't care about encumbrance very much.

Amelia Antrim  27:34

I'm sure there are people that do because there are rules for it. Yeah, but he wrote it down and was like, this would be a fun thing. It's like you

Ajey Pandey  27:40

know, how they kind of like like, they want to talk about those old like 90s Heartbreakers he can like tell like, you can tell the writers clearly cared about some things because they're lovely craft and mechanics for and then they just didn't care for something else. And they just blazingly hanaway of that. I laziale handwave inventory management There's a wealth stat which I need to get into which I don't care about a wealth stat is basically instead of cheque tracking in GP, your you track your overall socioeconomic class. And you compare that against the price of things. And things more expensive you steel up. Okay, there is a table of what price corresponds to where the stuff at price 10 is stuff like a painting that pioneered entire art movement, or the last bottle of a vintage wine. That's price 10. So then we get the whole thing about unless your weapon has the concealable property, people know what's there and they treat you accordingly. So if you're open carrying a shotgun, people will notice and then we get to and this is on page one or the guns that it's on page. 85 is where the guns do be. Do you want your pistol? Is there? Yep. If you want your SMG, which I want, it's a little further down.

Ryan Boelter  29:09

Right? liable pistol,

Ajey Pandey  29:11

shoot light. You'll know that weapons and bolts do static damage. And you will also note the percentage that one shot hits four of your normal health. And you have some notes that

Ryan Boelter  29:27

if you roll a success and a perk one of the options you can take for your perk is to do damage and a half. Oh boy. Mini guns don't okay with a mini gun. That's 15 damage right off the bat. Yeah, yeah, that's okay, that seems deadly. I'm looking at my fortitude.

Amelia Antrim  29:45

It's almost like real weapons could kill you.

Ajey Pandey  29:49

You'll also find that goons so the the NPC opponent tier list is goon face, he'll Was Jeff star very much enjoyed

Unknown Speaker  30:02

yeah yes I was gonna say

Ajey Pandey  30:06

and goons go down in one hit barn on no matter what um because they're not paid enough to die stopping you silly well the power fantasy of boulders you can get shot twice maybe huh

Ryan Boelter  30:26

I really like the the note that you have on mini gun the mini gun is meant to be mounted on a turret but realism has never stopped a power fantasy

Ajey Pandey  30:35

I'm the old description for that used to be we started from the bottom but now we're here shooting a big news monster on a train car with a countdown timer but you re to remake reference would have stuck. My I think my favorite one is the description of pull the pin, let it fly and all behind hostiles simply die.

Amelia Antrim  31:04

What a beautiful poem. I really enjoyed the flavor text on a lot of the stuff in here. Like even the lawyer was like, you know, that rich brat that my dad says my dad's a lawyer. Well, you are.

Ajey Pandey  31:19

Your brain won't handle it a bullet will. Nice. What's another fun one that's here? Uh, you can get a meat cleaver in this game. Oh, well, description, what a brutal way to go.

Ryan Boelter  31:39

All right. So what does our wealth start at then?

Ajey Pandey  31:43

your wealth is something you would kind of discuss with your table. Okay, there's a little table of like, three to six is the usual suggested spot. Because if you're below three, you're like, you know you're struggling for cash. active way, whereas from three to six, it's like, if your car breaks down, you're screwed.

Amelia Antrim  32:09

I wouldn't know anything about that.

Ajey Pandey  32:11

Yeah, it's not at all true life. This is entirely Now see, you

Amelia Antrim  32:15

know I'm not a millennial or anything I didn't have to like move back home because my car broke

Ajey Pandey  32:21

at all um, then like seven eight is what politicians thing middle class means. And then nine to 10 is you are a billionaire is not recommended anyone play at level? difficulty nine or 10?

Ryan Boelter  32:38

Yeah. I mean, I like that you can though.

Unknown Speaker  32:41

I like that you can.

Ajey Pandey  32:44

There's sometimes sometimes it's worth making mechanics, that knowns expected to interact with to know like, Oh, this is what the option would be. Mm hmm. You know, like, you're not expected to be a poet in this game, but you can be. Yeah. And lastly, we should get to names Oh, yeah. Oh shoot, I will give you I believe also in that same folder, there is a file called paddock. Yeah. So yeah, template slash paddock. Yeah. So in that here's a bit of a little bit of setting information about the culture of the area, because we're basically looking at fantasy fantasy South Asia. I'm from tribes. And so in that we have a list of names that you can kind of pull from here. And if you would like more names, you can kind of Google Hindi baby names. I know Got a long list, just the the Hindi equivalent of john, john. Oh, would be the Hindi equivalent of john Raj. Everyone in their kids name Raj. Another really common names on some of the most common Nintendo games are

Ryan Boelter  33:57

now now the real challenging one, but what's the hidden name for me clay

Unknown Speaker  34:01

McLean.

Amelia Antrim  34:05

Yeah, what's the Hindi version of generic generic

Ajey Pandey  34:09

was the most common Hindi boy. And because I have a gin, I have a general sounds for what common names are, but I can't think of him right now. Most common in the surnames. And I think one of the things I might do, eventually is make a big name content compendium of like fantasy, they see names like that you want 500 names, here. So now, all of your fantasy names don't have to be weirdly Anglo sounding.

Amelia Antrim  34:42

I really like that I'm a person that has a very hard time choosing character names and generally rely on like the baby name books on my bookshelf and then like some tweaking that I love when games have like setting names in there for me because you know, I was like, I have a very white people baby name book because I was naming my white babies. So at the time it made sense doesn't work for everything.

Ajey Pandey  35:10

Mm hmm. What I want to do especially for like that Compendium is like a mix of like actual like South Asian names, but also do the thing that a lot of fantasy Biggie like French novels do of like making their own like fantasy names. Yeah, well, they just kind of stick phonemes together and people don't do that enough. No, because like, there's there's a bit of playing with fire in terms of what if it's an actually offensive thing and it's like, right, I need to like give that space. So yeah, common Hindi names.

Ryan Boelter  35:44

I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Raj Mangal.

Ajey Pandey  35:48

Raja Mongo might work, but Dell is also really common. Indian name.

Ryan Boelter  35:53

Apparently mangled means auspicious. Not no one checks the

Ajey Pandey  35:59

actual meetings honestly just

Ryan Boelter  36:01

conductive to success or favorable. Yeah, who knows?

Ajey Pandey  36:06

bond is technically supposed to me and scholar. Hence anyone talking about pundits, same vibe. I hate it. Sing is a very common name as well, he, but a name like virgin read this idea is not an actual name. It's a fancy name. Hey, very cool. So once we have some names set up a three inch is also a fake name.

Unknown Speaker  36:39

I have fun coming up with fake names. Once we have that,

Ryan Boelter  36:42

I think we're Gucci. Oh, wow. We made people.

Ajey Pandey  36:46

You made some people. Oh, I really like this. And yeah, the idea is like the actual system is modular enough that you can kind of make your own roles as you want to scale back at us.

Amelia Antrim  36:58

Yeah, I do like that. You have in too that's like if you want to make your own role, here's, you know, you get so many, like a choice between this and this, this and this like so you can kind of slot in your own like, here's where you add skills. Here's where you pick from the is like, hmm

Ajey Pandey  37:13

and also like, these roles are a way of setting like starting character power levels. Because if you want to just start with basses you want to start with, like, you know your big boys, you can literally just like pile on the skills up front. And hey, presto, you know, everyone starts at Keanu Reeves level of Oh, yeah. Punching faces.

Ryan Boelter  37:38

Awesome.

Unknown Speaker  37:39

Yeah. So what did he come up with?

Ryan Boelter  37:42

We got I got Raj Mangal he him pronouns.

Amelia Antrim  37:47

I went with Priya signum, she her pronouns

Ajey Pandey  37:50

nice. Singh Kham is the name of a very, very popular dude, have you ever watched that one video of like, a like I'm like, Indian action movie with like a do with a big moustache, like, punches a jeep. Right down. Oh, yeah, yeah, that's cincom That's all. That is. That is an actual movie.

Amelia Antrim  38:15

You can watch with Yeah,

Ajey Pandey  38:16

it's good. You can watch with your eyes. It has a sequel called Simba with us. Um, it's it's such a fun movie. It's such a fun movie that also like is topical about like sexual assault stuff happening in India. But also, it's a silly action flick somehow manages to be both.

Amelia Antrim  38:40

And sounds like the exact correct vibe for what we're going for. Absolutely.

Ajey Pandey  38:43

It's the kind of thing where if you punch someone and they go through the wall,

Amelia Antrim  38:49

yes. So that

Ryan Boelter  38:52

was awesome. Sweet. So we did it.

Amelia Antrim  38:58

We did it. All right. We made our characters. We did it. I'm very proud of us. I'm I love our

Ryan Boelter  39:05

crew. This is such a good movie in the making.
