Welcome to the second episode of our Sentinel comics series. Everyone will be finishing up our character creation this episode. But before we get to that, our usual announcements and this time, actual announcements. Well, announcements.

Ryan Boelter  0:14

First up, if you haven't heard, there is a little Kickstarter going on for a game called avatar legends the role playing game by magpie games. Previous guests on the show, Daniel Kwan. And a really diverse cast of developers and crew are working on this powered by the apocalypse game. And it's it's smashing through ttrpg records on Kickstarter, right? Over three and a half million right now, which is ridiculous. So yeah, if you haven't checked it out yet, somehow, head on over there the links in the show notes. It looks cool. And there's a lot of cool stuff you can get with it. And yeah, it's it's really fun to see an indie RPG just kind of skyrocketing like this.

Amelia Antrim  1:03

Yeah. When they announced the the names attached to it a few months ago, or whenever that was because time has no meaning. I was really impressed with with the people that they pulled on to work on it. I am not an avatar clan. It just was like, I don't know, I think a little bit like, after my time, or, like, never got around to watching it. But it's it's a great list of people. And based on that I would, I would gladly pick it up. Yeah, it

Ryan Boelter  1:31

looks fun. Plus, you get some really sweet dice. At the higher tiers. Like, like really sweet looking dice, I think. obsidian dice for the higher tiers. Oh, fancy. Yeah, they're super fancy.

Amelia Antrim  1:43

We also want to let people know about the one shot network Patreon secret archive. If you head over to slash one shot podcast and pledge at the $5 and up level, you will get access to some really great bonus content. We've already released an episode where we play a game of hero dog safe town by Alex Roberts from the ultimate micro RPG book, edited by James d'amato. It was a great game, we had a lot of fun playing it so much so that I actually played it again with my kids recently, where our dog was the dog as well, but that's okay. It was fantastic. And so hopefully you will take a listen. And we really enjoyed it. And we hope to bring you more stuff like that

Ryan Boelter  2:29

in the future. Absolutely. Another way to support us is to go ahead and leave a rating or review for us. Right now we are completely out of reviews to read to you. So if you leave one right now I know you leave one right now you'll you'll be at the top of the list for reviews to read next time. We are getting a lot better about recording these cold opens together which is great. Yeah

Amelia Antrim  2:51

Ryan Boelter  4:37

On the last episode of Character Creation Cast, Jeff was creating a hero from another dimension. john was creating a cursed hero with wicked claws. Amelia was creating likely a necromancer and I was creating a magical girl ask superhero we're picking up right where we left off last time. Enjoy So it sounds like we've all got our powers. Our yellow and green powers selected right Hmm So now now

Jon - System Mastery  5:12

the cat

Amelia Antrim  5:13

already got Powers and

Jef - System Mastery  5:15

abilities and you're gonna get more later.

Ryan Boelter  5:17

Yeah now now it says arc type cuz it right here at the bottom of our little thing that says roll these dice for arc type selection so I'm assuming that's the next step right?

Jef - System Mastery  5:27

And it'll work just like the last step did you're gonna roll those dice keep them and you can add them together. Up to two of them can be added together as well.

Amelia Antrim  5:35

I've got 10 and and to AIX

Ryan Boelter  5:38

mine's kind of boring I got to two and nine although elemental manipulator sounds really cool

Jef - System Mastery  5:44

for an elemental regulator is

Jon - System Mastery  5:46

so good

Amelia Antrim  5:49

to hear set up to sorcerer so I don't want to hear

Ryan Boelter  5:55

I mean that's true sorcerer is another one in there doesn't it? That's that's

Jef - System Mastery  5:59

I only get two dice but one of them is a D 12 which is money say oh wow, that's

Jon - System Mastery  6:04

12 and a six as

Jef - System Mastery  6:05

my dice game here because you get to assign that later which means one of my assigned to things This round is going to be a D 12. Which is just

Ryan Boelter  6:15

oh, that's why

Amelia Antrim  6:16

for seven and nine which

Ryan Boelter  6:25

I'm thinking I'll take elemental manipulator probably for mine that sounds very magical girl on brand.

Amelia Antrim  6:33

I could do marksmen which is a now I could do armored which is boring. elemental manipulator would be okay when an armor is born. Yeah.

Ryan Boelter  6:46

I got shadow is another possibility. Which

Jef - System Mastery  6:50

the same thing you did? And let me tell you now we both rolled a D 12. And a D six and we both rolled 18

Jon - System Mastery  7:01

dibs on reality shaper reality.

Ryan Boelter  7:03

Perfect. That is what else do you have your Deb's psychics pretty cool though.

Amelia Antrim  7:13

elemental? manipulator. 11 a sorcerer.

Jef - System Mastery  7:18

I'm rolling my D six just to get away from john

Amelia Antrim  7:21

16 form changer which I definitely read is foam changer. I mean, I don't know if your form is foam then. Okay, obviously in painting sorcerer, I don't know why bother to read any of these other ones?

Ryan Boelter  7:39

Yeah. elemental manipulator for me.

Jon - System Mastery  7:42

I tell you what, if you want to get the reality shaper, I'll go ahead and take close combat.

Jef - System Mastery  7:48

I mean, I clearly do I have illusions over here. Yeah. And transmutations I'm sorry.

Jon - System Mastery  7:54

I had transmit loose change.

Jef - System Mastery  7:56

I'm losing my professional nature because I want to go fight with

Jef - System Mastery  8:01

them. Excuse me for a second. No, it's okay. I think we can work this out because you're doing a claw thing. And I'm doing a transmutation thing. Well, I

Jon - System Mastery  8:12

also have transmutation as a power. I'll be speaking the same character said mine for a

Ryan Boelter  8:19

while well, yours comes from a different dimension. So

Jef - System Mastery  8:22

yes. And in his has a terrible curse. Actually, I'll tell you why. Why don't we just both take reality shaper and see what happens.

Jon - System Mastery  8:31

Now, all the close quarters is fine.

Jef - System Mastery  8:35

I think the game is robust enough to handle two reality shapers. So it definitely is

Ryan Boelter  8:39

Yeah. Also, we get more powers

Jon - System Mastery  8:43

and qualities. Because any put into powers can go into some new qualities. So if you want more options on sort of your skills and what you're like, then you can go ahead and assign more to those if you really want to

Ryan Boelter  8:59

ask makes me happy because I had to not choose certain things because, yeah, it didn't work out.

Jef - System Mastery  9:06

Yeah, and there's actually a step. The last step in character creation is called the retcon. And it lets you make one change to something there's a list of things you can do. Which which can help you with with really fine tuning the character

Ryan Boelter  9:21

transmutation, I could take transmutation, I don't think I want to. Now I got to go back to trusty page 47.

Jon - System Mastery  9:30

always open.

Ryan Boelter  9:32

Yep, trying to do with the physical book. It's got the real,

Amelia Antrim  9:35

sticky tabs are for so many of them. I bought like hundreds of them from my game reading.

Ryan Boelter  9:45

Why? Why isn't like feelings, a elemental energy selection,

Amelia Antrim  9:51

Jef - System Mastery  9:53

make one choose an elemental energy power, like say radiation and just say it's being

Amelia Antrim  9:59

radiated. Number ones.

Ryan Boelter  10:01

Yeah, right. Yeah. radiants the closest one. Yeah, a radiance is light. And cause

Jon - System Mastery  10:05

Yeah, I have cosmic love. Yeah. Oh,

Jef - System Mastery  10:09

you can any one of those, you can take it and just write feelings instead. And it's just rescanning it won't change anything.

Amelia Antrim  10:15

When there can just be a storm of emotion, new nuclear.

Jef - System Mastery  10:23

Take just take both fire and cold and rescan them to to make yourself into the ultimate Sundari. And I get a D six, which I'll throw into any mental quality or something

Jon - System Mastery  10:36

thrown to some crap that doesn't matter. Why just I only

Jef - System Mastery  10:39

have like one quality right now I have two qualities. I need another one. And I'll put a D six and self discipline and that way, it'll be very apparent that my character is not well disciplined.

Ryan Boelter  10:48

Hmm, you know what? I'm gonna I'm gonna give a little bit of an edge to my magical girl and give them infernal energy powers. Nice. That sounds pretty cool.

Amelia Antrim  11:01

I was gonna pick that one actually, too. I think that might be be what I need.

Jon - System Mastery  11:08

Okay, now as a close quarters combatant. Oh, yeah,

Amelia Antrim  11:13

obviously, why did I not pick infernal before anyway, sorry, continue.

Jon - System Mastery  11:18

So with the close quarters combat and archetype I have to take the close combat quality, which I already have. But I can swap out one of the dice from this with what it was on already. So I had a D eight in close combat, I'm gonna put the D 12. in close combat, and then I'll put a D six into teleportation and the D eight into insight and I get three green powers.

Jef - System Mastery  11:49

I did the same trick. I switched out transmutation, which had been at a D eight to my new D 12. Picked up teleportation as my new D eight. And then I have alertness at a D six. And those are my new powers and qualities.

Ryan Boelter  12:03

Oh, I went infernal as a infernal energy as a D 10. And then acrobatics and close combat for D sixes as qualities perfect.

Jef - System Mastery  12:18

I have yet to be offered access to the physical Caliphate category, which means that I cannot or I have no close combat arranged combat, it just hasn't come up. But that's okay, because this game doesn't really work that way.

Ryan Boelter  12:31

Right. So I have two green abilities, both of which must use your elemental energy powers. So a couple of these green abilities are telling me that I can do something extra at the cost of taking damage. And the the abilities the powers that I'm utilizing are my elemental slash energy powers of Inferno. I've also got that protection from energy from the previous step. So I I'm assuming that damage is reduced, that I'm doing to myself,

Jef - System Mastery  13:07

and you can heal yourself by damaging yourself in some situations.

Ryan Boelter  13:11

Oh, that's awesome.

Jon - System Mastery  13:12

Yeah. Because sometimes you'll have the I absorb whatever energy quality and then you get a power that damages you with that energy and you're like, haha, I really cooling stuff.

Ryan Boelter  13:22

It just makes you awesome. Nice. Now I want a power game this but you always find a power

Jef - System Mastery  13:29

elemental manipulator you're halfway to power gaming. It's It's such a good archetype. There's nothing wrong with doing that though. Because this isn't really a game that needs hard balance. It's Yeah, you're just playing superheroes. It just means that the the the storyteller or the the was called a rule. The director in this game, I forget what they're called. That they're not going to be trying to kill you as often as they are trying to win by, you know, environmental factors. Can you do these hostages in time? You have kind of a superman thing going on?

Ryan Boelter  14:03

You don't beat Superman. With power. You beat him by making him sad, huh? Oh, that powers

Jef - System Mastery  14:14

incredibly irritating. I love it. I am definitely taking it, or ability rather.

Ryan Boelter  14:19

Great. So I've got energy conversion. That allows me to defend using my infernal power. And then I use my max die boosting boost using your Monday. I'm going to take also external combustion attack up to two targets using the internal power also take an amount of damage equal to your mid die.

Jef - System Mastery  14:46

As long as it's the type of damage that you resist. That's great.

Ryan Boelter  14:49

Yeah, which is the type of damage that I resist because it's energy from myself. So

Jef - System Mastery  14:56

we have a bunch of reactions. Maybe that's too many. No, it's fine. Okay, so I'm taking a lot of reactions here. As a reality shaper, I took the following green abilities warp space, which attacks using transmutation, I can move the target of that attack anywhere else nearby in this game uses zone movement. So I can, I can either move someone around within a zone, like say that if there's a big bonfire in the middle of the zone, I can move an enemy into it, or I can move them to another zone. So I can be I can shoot them a transmutation and like melt them out of the room and have them reform outside or something like that. If the target goes next, then I decide who takes the next turn after they finish their turn. And that is because and this is a neat thing about this game. Turn order is decided by whose turn it currently is. So if when you are finished with your turn, you say who is going next and you can choose the enemies, you can choose the environment or you can choose an ally.

Ryan Boelter  15:58

Oh, very cool.

Jef - System Mastery  16:01

And then I also took not quite right, which is a reaction. And it is a reaction to any time a dipole is rolled. anytime anyone rolls a dipole, I can adjust to a single die in it up or down by one value on one day.

Ryan Boelter  16:15

Oh, wow.

Jef - System Mastery  16:17

Which is great for just carefully making everybody on our team a little tiny bit better. And everybody on the other team a little tiny bit worse.

Ryan Boelter  16:25

That's really cool.

Jef - System Mastery  16:26

Yep. And I also got one yellow ability. And I chose another reaction. I have lots and lots of them. I liked it. My character kind of sits back and messes with things as they're taking place. And this one is never happened, which I'm sure john is about to say and of Jonathan frakes voice

Jon - System Mastery  16:44

our writers made this one up.

Jef - System Mastery  16:46

And that one is whenever a nearby enemy would create a bonus or a penalty. I can just remove it immediately. Wow. So anytime they're like and I armor up my minions like you'd be like No, you didn't.

Ryan Boelter  17:00

That's very cool.

Jef - System Mastery  17:01

Yeah, very reality. shapee

Ryan Boelter  17:03

Yeah, I get to choose another yellow ability here and multiple of them are making me very happy. Hmm. Gosh, I could choose one that self heals. Every time I attack somebody with my energy powers with the external combustion. Or I could do energy redirection. So whenever I take damage from infernal I can also inflict that much damage on another target.

Jef - System Mastery  17:38

are you dealing infernal damage? Is that what you redefined? feelings as?

Ryan Boelter  17:42

Yeah, it's it's no longer feelings. It's just pure, angsty and furnell.

Jon - System Mastery  17:50

Whenever I feel feelings, you feel feelings. Yeah, that's awesome.

Jef - System Mastery  17:56

Someone made me sad and it's your problem.

Ryan Boelter  17:59

Only that that sadness is now infernal energy. I'm gonna take energy alignment. So if you would take damage from infernal energy, reduce that damage to zero and recover that amount of health instead. All right,

Jef - System Mastery  18:16

perfect. Other people can't make you more angsty, you've got enough for yourself.

Ryan Boelter  18:20

Exactly. Alright, I

Jon - System Mastery  18:22

get a ton of green powers to choose from and then turn one of them into a yellow so I get three green and then a green power that technically sits in the yellow section. Oh, interesting. But I've got defensive strike. So I defend using shapeshifting But then I also attack using my minimum die offensive strike I attack using close combat and use the maximum die throw minion I love the Romanian I attack using transmutation and whatever it rolls for defense attacks someone else

Ryan Boelter  18:59

Oh wow.

Jon - System Mastery  19:00

And then for my yellow I took precise strike I attack using cursed clause and I ignore all penalties all defensive actions and no reactions are allowed.

Jef - System Mastery  19:12

Oh I can't make it slightly better.

Unknown Speaker  19:14

Amelia Antrim  19:16

All right, I picked subdue attack using infernal bipac and then you can hinder the same target with Max die and then I picked a powerful blast you attack attack using invisibility and use the max die because that's like my first power what was the other one? Oh, cords of magic destroy all bonuses and penalties on a target hinders target using infernal using the max die. Just gonna like I don't know, throw demons at people or something like that. It's

Jef - System Mastery  19:58

very much like a purifying such

Ryan Boelter  20:01

That's really cool. Yeah.

Jon - System Mastery  20:03

And this will also, this step gets you your next principle category. Yes,

Ryan Boelter  20:09

I've got two esoteric principles.

Jef - System Mastery  20:12

Yeah, that's okay. You're gonna write down esoteric and both principles for now and we'll get there when we get there. But Eric is stuff like principle of magic or of whispers.

Ryan Boelter  20:22

I'm all about that. Yeah. Yeah. All right. And then, and then we roll two more dice. For personality selection.

Jef - System Mastery  20:29

Yeah, everybody's willing to detain at this stage. It goes back to uniform,

Amelia Antrim  20:33

Jon - System Mastery  20:35

I got a one and a five close like, a lone wolf, sarcastic or distant.

Amelia Antrim  20:42

Please pick a friend

Jon - System Mastery  20:50

or have any friends except for all of you guys. But I hate you so much, but I love you.

Amelia Antrim  20:56

Settle down with your reality bending claws.

Ryan Boelter  21:00

Raw. So I got natural leader fast talking or alluding

Amelia Antrim  21:08

to sevens. stalwart, or,

Ryan Boelter  21:12

I don't think I want fast hockey

Amelia Antrim  21:13

decisive. Stone work or decisive? Hmm.

Ryan Boelter  21:20

So either way with natural leader or alluring I get a D 68. d 10. So green is d six, yellow D eight, red d 10.

Jef - System Mastery  21:29

I rolled a four and a six. And that lets me be distant. alluring or mischievous?

Amelia Antrim  21:36

law? minor da da da. Or da da da.

Jef - System Mastery  21:45

Well, that's nice, though. That just means that you never have a D six.

Amelia Antrim  21:49

Yeah, there's

Jon - System Mastery  21:50

no phase of the game where I suppose

Ryan Boelter  21:53

it's not too bad.

Jef - System Mastery  21:54

I mean, look at what mischief is is a D six and two D eight, because you get a little bonus ability instead.

Ryan Boelter  22:00

Oh, and impulsive as d 6060.

Amelia Antrim  22:02

I want to be impulsive.

Jef - System Mastery  22:04

But you get a bonus for doing it. You upgrade a power quality by one step or by $1

Ryan Boelter  22:10

look at nurturing d 60 6012. Uh huh. Wow.

Jef - System Mastery  22:15

You're making nurturing the whole time until things really go sideways. At which point you go ballistic at trying to save anybody.

Ryan Boelter  22:22

That's awesome.

Jef - System Mastery  22:23

I'm definitely taking Mr. Davis.

Jon - System Mastery  22:25

I mean, obviously, yeah.

Ryan Boelter  22:26

So the only mechanical difference it looks like between natural leader and alluring is natural leader. boosting the audibility is boosting ally by rolling your single quality dye or lowering his boost your analyte using your single power dye? Yeah,

Jef - System Mastery  22:42

there's only a couple of things that this step really does. It gives you your status tie. So if your status tie options are the same, then they'll will look the same. It gives you your stability. And it gives you some of them if they give you bad dice, like Mr. Visser or whatever is right above Mr. vislink, it's impulsive, then they will give you a little bonus as well.

Ryan Boelter  23:01

What's the single die that they're talking about there?

Jef - System Mastery  23:04

Okay, so you're probably talking about the first sentence make up a quality based on your hero's backstory and assign a DA to Oh, okay. So what you're going to do is it's quality, not a power. But you're going to take something that is kind of a definitive aspect to your character that you don't currently have as a as a quality. Just write down anything, you don't pick a skill, you make one up, and you write it down with a da. Okay? Like, for example, my character sheet, I'm clearing out a character sheet that had Squirrel Girl on it. And right now it says eating nuts and kicking butts for her da power. So you just pick something that helps to find your character, and it's just nice to have it on your sheet. Okay.

Jon - System Mastery  23:42

And if you were talking about single die for the out ability,

Ryan Boelter  23:47

Jon - System Mastery  23:48

Just the only die that that gives you. You take that. So instead of normally roll three dice, you would just roll whatever that one things dye is and take that result. Oh, okay. So

Ryan Boelter  24:01

you would be using for like natural leader, you would be using an equality and you would just use that one day? Yeah.

Jon - System Mastery  24:07

Okay, if you were like, I've got the quality of insight at da, then you'd say, Alright, I'm going to use inside for it. I roll a DA and just a DA rather than taking three dice in the mid it's just whatever result you roll on one day.

Ryan Boelter  24:23

Interesting. I think I made based on that swap to a lowering. I was thinking natural leader but I like my power set better. And delivering utilizes the power set for the about audibility. Sure, so I get a DA assigned to a made up quality.

Jef - System Mastery  24:46

I give you an example because I just did mine. I've decided that my character has been hopping between dimensions for a long time. And so for that da quality I've given them dimensional studies, which means that Whenever they meet someone they can have my character will have maybe met them before in another dimension and know things about them based on how they turned evil in another dimension or what was hero there. So it's kind of a mental insight quality based on just Yeah. It's basically like I know 1000 view.

Ryan Boelter  25:22

It's interesting.

Jon - System Mastery  25:23

I'm gonna take my personality is lone wolf, because I'm cursed and I don't want people to get near me. My audibility is I boost an ally with my single creativity die. And I've got da it's down the board for my status dice. And for my quality, I have chaos theory, which is since the claws basically mutate me and the reality around me constantly. my character's gotten to the point where they can see some order in the chaos and what's about to happen.

Amelia Antrim  26:03

I feel like it's coming together. Yeah, it's all it's all coming together. What is a quality that you would give a DA to if someone was a necromancer?

Jon - System Mastery  26:15

Lord of the dead? Yeah. All right.

Jef - System Mastery  26:20

Jon - System Mastery  26:21

Mistress. Good night.

Jef - System Mastery  26:25

I've got a dust for that. bone. However.

Amelia Antrim  26:31

Thank you for noticing crave sugar. I can get your toe.

Ryan Boelter  26:37

I think I'm gonna go. Magical Girl optimism. Yeah, yeah, it's perfect. It's great for my quality. Do

Amelia Antrim  26:46

you do you Ryan?

Ryan Boelter  26:47

I will.

Jef - System Mastery  26:50

It's a complex exploration of how you can take every role playing game and magic make a magical girl in it.

Amelia Antrim  26:55

That is our show. Yeah.

Ryan Boelter  26:57

I 100% this time blame john, for putting that seed into my brain,

Amelia Antrim  27:03

I think right? And we need to start like being serious about this though. Like, if this is who we're going to be. Then like, we need to get serious and every single game is a question of how do we make a magical girl and a necromancer in this game? I mean, you guys, you guys do your shows by seasons, right? You could do every series. Yeah. Yeah. Good. I feel like I feel like Ryan is more consistent at that than I am. And making magical girls like

Ryan Boelter  27:37

you've got a lot of angsty character. I

Amelia Antrim  27:38

do. I do, like make a lot of like, vaguely evil characters.

Ryan Boelter  27:44

And to be fair mine. Mine is a magical girl, combined with a slightly angsty energy, I guess.

Jef - System Mastery  27:53

I think that's perfectly fine. Yeah. I will go to any length, I will take any weakness the game imposes on me if it allows me to play something other than a human. There you go. So I'm right there with you. I have a I have a tell.

Amelia Antrim  28:07

I've been so far just like writing down. The power is as I pick them like what they are. But I feel like now that I have all of them in front of me. I'm like, Oh, that's not what that is. Like, I haven't This is risky interventions. And it's like oh, no, that's definitely shambling corpses now.

Jef - System Mastery  28:30

Like, even still be inventions. It could be little bone machines. They throw out little things made of bone and they clatter around and do one thing.

Amelia Antrim  28:37

Oh, yeah. Found friends.

Ryan Boelter  28:39

Bone friends.

Amelia Antrim  28:42

Decided minions.

Ryan Boelter  28:44

There you go. This next step.

Jef - System Mastery  28:46

Yeah. So read abilities are different than every ability you've learned so far, in that rather than being assigned out by the archetype or the power source or whatever they are done, everybody gets to and they are done by your powers and your qualities. So when you're scrolling through the read abilities, you'll see things like material powers, elemental energy powers, if you have an elemental energy power, then you can choose the readibility from the elemental energy power set. Now if you have if you have a quality that's from the mental qualities, you can choose a relative readibility from the mental quality set. Okay. Okay, so so just choose the powers you want to focus in your when you're in your like our of ultimate need and you're doing your your ultimate technique. Choose the powers that you want to see reflected in the qualities you want to see reflected find those categories and choose from there. My characters focused heavily on transmutation. So I'm definitely gonna be picking at least one read from meant or materials for example.

Amelia Antrim  29:45

I mean, there's one elemental called purification, so I doesn't even matter what it does. That's what we're picking.

Ryan Boelter  29:55

summoned allies. Sounds pretty cool.

Jef - System Mastery  29:57

I'm definitely liking it. It's always cool, and I'll explain how works when we get to it. Because you're going to love that it's a neat step. And by all means we can both take it, it doesn't change anything,

Ryan Boelter  30:08

right? Because the the flavor is going to be totally different, right?

Jef - System Mastery  30:11

Absolutely. Mine's gonna be transmuted things that I write that I pull up from the environment. It'll be like like telephone poles and mailboxes and stuff come to life and march out to fight

Ryan Boelter  30:24

race. I think the the more down and out my character gets the the scarier their abilities become. That's what I'm kind of leaning in.

Jef - System Mastery  30:32

And that is perfect. Maybe dorable or

Amelia Antrim  30:36

like I said, like less adorable.

Ryan Boelter  30:40

Yeah, less adorable. More More like hellish I guess.

Jef - System Mastery  30:44

Maybe your maybe your summoned allies are like, the kind of darkest emotional versions of yourself. Like rage you and you know that hateful you and so on, pop up around you that kind of it. But really, you could do anything?

Ryan Boelter  31:00

Yeah, tech, I'm using infernal for this one.

Jon - System Mastery  31:03

Nice. I'm finally going to get a reaction.

Jef - System Mastery  31:08

I'm wondering if I should take a fifth reaction or not.

Amelia Antrim  31:11

Oh, there's one called resurrection.

Ryan Boelter  31:17

I gotta figure out what other categories. My powers came from, in qualities.

Jon - System Mastery  31:24

All right. So for my red form signature weapon. I took a charged up blast. So I attack using cursed claws, and at least one bonus, I attack using all the dice. And then I destroy all bonuses on me. Oh, and then the second one is from the mental category aware response when an opponent attacks or hinders me or a nearby ally, I can attack them as a reaction using my single creativity die.

Ryan Boelter  31:57

Nice. I'm going to go back to page 47. Again, good old page 47. It's got so much. It's all the things you need. So power suit is under the technological category. That's interesting. Yes. Now Now it has a whole bunch of like powers in here that you have to select, you know, it's kind of in the back bracket power. If I chose technological powers, and my only technological power is power suit, I would have to choose power suit for that. Or I could utilize other powers as well.

Jon - System Mastery  32:30

Nope, whatever the category of red power is you have to fill in the bracket with something from that category. Okay,

Ryan Boelter  32:39

that's what I was thinking. So,

Jef - System Mastery  32:40

okay, so for my read abilities, I'll be taking summoned allies from materials, which is use transmutation to create a number of minions equal to my bid die. So I pick I roll a transmutation pool, and get a bid die number of minions who are de six minions. Then I choose one basic action that they each perform. And this game has a limited set of basic actions. They are attack, defend, hinder, boost and overcome. But I choose one of those five things for all of the minions and at the start of each of my turns, they all do that thing. Oh, now the way minions work in this game, and in fact, the way enemies work in this game is they get it they are a die. So when I create the six minions, I put D sixes on the table on a card that says trans mutated minions. Oh, nice. When it's their turn, I pick them up and roll them. And if someone attacks them, then they defend by being picked up and rolled. So minions in this game and lieutenants for that matter are very, very simple to play. They are represented by a single die when it's their turn, they roll themselves Okay, my other one is considered a planning it's a it's a boost using creativity that I apply to myself with my max die. But I maintain my my mid die because I'm going to use it to defend against all attacks used against me until my next turn, and my min die result becomes a reaction until my next term that I can use to hinder anyone who chooses to attack me. Oh no, it's anyone who chooses to attack anyone. So basically I can I can throw myself a huge boost become become more awesome at something defend against everything for a turn and I'm assuming because this is transmutation. This is probably me me like pulling the ground up around myself into an earth that suit of armor for a second. And that way of defending against anyone punching me and then not only that, when they punch me, I made of rocks and spikes now they get hurt. They take a hinder for doing so. There you go.

Amelia Antrim  34:40

I took abilities based entirely on their names, I think purification which removes all penalties and bonuses. But it can only be used once per issue. Oh no that one was once See? Oh yeah, once person. And then the other one I took was resurrection, which is once per issue if your health would go to zero, I can use in visibility and close combat and my red zone die and health becomes that number.

Ryan Boelter  35:19

Nice. Nice. So I took a summoned allies from the elemental energy powers. So when I use infernal to create a number of de six minions just like was kind of described before they act at the start of your turn. And then I took from my Hallmark powers with my signature weapon. Ultimate weaponry to boost yourself using signature weapon. Use your max die that bonus is persistent and exclusive attack using your mid die plus that bonus. Yeah, that's a good one. I also want to like further describe my signature weapon. I mean, love is poetic, but like it's not as love doesn't feel tangible.

Amelia Antrim  36:13

I don't know don't hurt me.

Jef - System Mastery  36:16

Can it hurt you anymore?

Ryan Boelter  36:19

I'm gonna say signature weapon outfit. Utilizing utilizing my costume? Oh,

Jef - System Mastery  36:26

no. Okay, because it's a power suit kind of thing.

Ryan Boelter  36:28

Yeah. So I can like utilize parts of my costume as a as a weapon. So we already did that one standard tier. I know. But this is more magic tech, instead of like, magic cloth. I guess.

Amelia Antrim  36:45

Last time it was a pirate.

Jon - System Mastery  36:51

You got to skip down a ways to get to principles, it's going to be page 122 is where it starts.

Jef - System Mastery  36:57

Although that's going to change if you have the physical book. No, it won't.

Amelia Antrim  37:05

It didn't.

Jef - System Mastery  37:06

Oh, you're using it based on the printed number on the page. Gotcha.

Jon - System Mastery  37:09

Nevermind. I've got an identity and a responsibility principle.

Amelia Antrim  37:14

I have esoteric and I

Jef - System Mastery  37:18

get lots of esoteric floating around. Yeah,

Ryan Boelter  37:19

I've got esoteric and esoteric

Jon - System Mastery  37:23

for someone with cursed clause that causes reality to constantly shift around them. I have nothing that's esoteric about me. No.

Amelia Antrim  37:32

Principles of exorcism.

Jon - System Mastery  37:36

So I page Am I looking at for this again. 122 starts and then you'll just sort of scroll down to or flip to wherever the Oh immortality, obviously, esoteric is the first one. So 124 is just right, where all your things will be?

Ryan Boelter  37:55

Oh, there's a whole bunch of things.

Jef - System Mastery  37:56

Yeah. Okay. That's why we weren't choosing it right away, because it just do this on their same time. What's interesting,

Amelia Antrim  38:03

oh, man, is it immortality or is it undead?

Jef - System Mastery  38:07

I'll take that destiny. I'm grabbing destiny from the esoteric

Ryan Boelter  38:10

principle of destiny.

Amelia Antrim  38:12

Hmm. Oh, does it constitute?

Jon - System Mastery  38:15

I mean, I already picked lone wolf. I may as well take the principle of the loner

Jef - System Mastery  38:21

and see if there's a principle of the wolf you can take to know it just says you're hungry like them.

Jon - System Mastery  38:27

Full of the loner already says you're the best there is at what you do.

Amelia Antrim  38:32

Yeah, I'm definitely taking principle of the undead. So good.

Ryan Boelter  38:37

Principle of the inner demon sounds really cool.

Jef - System Mastery  38:40

And this will give you a sense of what this what the principles actually do and look like. You'll see that they give you a little bit of a role playing tip. That's the first thing they give you. Then also your twist suggestions and your single overcome actionability for each one. So that kind of that kind of serves somewhere between role playing suggestions, alignments, and XP gent generating mechanics.

Ryan Boelter  39:07

Okay, very cool.

Jon - System Mastery  39:10

Yeah, should take principle of the loaner. And then for my other one principal of the team, Wolverines, 100%, all by myself, and also I'm on every

Ryan Boelter  39:20

team. That's amazing.

Amelia Antrim  39:23

I guess you guys can be here too. We're not working together.

Jef - System Mastery  39:26

He's the best there is what he does and what he is what he does is remaining consistent. Yeah. Looks like I'm going to go with destiny and clockwork. clockwork isn't actually about clockwork. It's about ordered systems and understanding how everything is moving and changing. Oh,

Jon - System Mastery  39:45

yeah. Now my second one is going to be the principle of the every man. Nice. All right.

Ryan Boelter  39:49

I think I'm gonna go Yeah, I'm gonna go with principle of the inner demon and principle of the future. So the inner demon, I have a darkness Send me that I strive to keep suppressed. And I can reach out to it. And for the principle of future, I have visions or knowledge of things yet to come. The problem with not having the PDF version is I have to type all of this stuff out. Yeah, just copy pasting.

Jef - System Mastery  40:19

And I'm just gonna rewrite both of my minor twists because they don't quite match what I what I wanted, and I don't care where you go.

Jon - System Mastery  40:26

Ah, so my two principles Give me the green abilities of principle the loner I overcome, when doing something that is separate from the team, and I get to use my Mac's die and give everyone hero points the principle the every man, every man is I overcome and use a bonus that was given to me from another hero. And again, Max die and everybody gets some hero points.

Jef - System Mastery  40:55

And I've just realized that what I was writing was actually just another principle so I'm just changing it. So now I have principle of destiny, which is that signs and portents will lead me toward an inevitable place in my life, but I can always gain a measure of direction from my understanding of that with a minor twist of what omen of dire fortune Did you just witness and a major twist of what heinous prophecy just came true, which I'm going to slightly rewrite to be that I've seen dimensional collapses and other dimensions and that I see signs and portents that indicate that the dimension I'm in is headed towards those same collapses. And then I have a principle of mastery, which is I am good. I have thoroughly studied my own powers and I'm very proud of my mastery of them I know a great deal about the metaphysics of my powers. And my minor twist is how did I fail in the moment how do my powers not work? And the major twist is what side effects are they causing me Okay, and my green abilities I got are just overcome a situation directly connected to your destiny and overcome a situation that uses your powers in a new way which I love if I have transmutation and illusion

Ryan Boelter  42:03

right that's very cool.

Jef - System Mastery  42:05

I'm super happy with it.

Ryan Boelter  42:07

Amelia Antrim  42:07

this character sheet so messy.

Ryan Boelter  42:11

So principles of the future my role plane is you have vision or knowledge of things yet to come minor twist of what unintended ripple did your actions have major twist of what ripple effect now threatens the future as you know it sounds pretty cool. And then the green stability principle of the future overcome using your knowledge of possible futures and use your max dye unique to your allies Gainey here a point I thought that was really cool twist on the character.

Jef - System Mastery  42:43

interesting twist

Ryan Boelter  42:45

and then principle of the inner demon so you have a darkness in you that you strive to keep suppressed you can reach out to your dark side to connect with similar forces. Minor twist of what sinister act comes from tapping into your dark side and major twist what havoc does your dark side inflict as you allow it to take control all this while and then principle of the inner demon tap into your dark psyche to overcome a problem and use your max die you in each of your allies can see here Oh boy. That sounds like a lot of fun.

Amelia Antrim  43:21

Huh? I took principle of the undead see here you are living challenge. You can still be hurt and damaged but you can ignore many of the afflictions that bother the living minor twist is how did your undead nature unnerved those around you made your twist How are you risking your connection to the living world with what happened and you overcome is overcome a situation where your undead nature comes in handy. Am I took principle of ambition there's something that you want and you strive toward achieving your goals no matter the cost you see a path to victory that no one else will minor twist is the pursuit of your goal getting in the way of being a hero in this situation. Major twist What did you just pass up or miss that could have helped you achieve your biggest goal at last and overcome is overcome a situation where someone else has given you a bonus from a boost that's great

Jef - System Mastery  44:27

that's a nice one that means anytime anyone else is boosting you can you can throw that right into hero points I've got my character figured out that that step helped

Ryan Boelter  44:37

Amelia Antrim  44:38

Jon - System Mastery  44:38

well I already knew exactly

Jef - System Mastery  44:42

what I basically moved away from is the the the kazoo I'm not playing is playing his Mickey spit like any more.

Ryan Boelter  44:52

That was really interesting because I went from like straight up magical girl to like, magical girl with a very dark side.

Jef - System Mastery  44:59

Yeah, yeah. got something going on? That's telling you the future? Yeah.

Ryan Boelter  45:03

Yeah, that was an unexpected gain to my character that I think would really put them into a really interesting path. Especially if it's this weird, dark energy inside of them.

Jef - System Mastery  45:18

So now that you've done that, there is there's really only two more steps. And right now, I believe we're currently past them. So what you're gonna want to do is go to page 112.

Ryan Boelter  45:30

Yeah. So it looks like they retcon step is where we're on Step six.

Jef - System Mastery  45:36

Uh huh. So another retcon step is a chance for you to take a look at your character now that you've largely got the powers qualities and abilities put together and make a change, or add something that helps kind of shore up your design. If your character is like, for example, your character now has kind of a prophecy element to to them that might not be reflected in your current set of powers or qualities. And if you wanted to, you could go add a D six power that's like, I don't know, the future site or something from the psychic category to help you kind of shore that up. Or if you can't think of anything like that, you can just increase the power, increase your red status dye, change your principal, or even just gain an extra readibility.

Ryan Boelter  46:16

Oh, wow. So you can do one of the following that there's a whole bunch of different options here. That's pretty cool. So you could swap day swap quality days. Okay.

Jef - System Mastery  46:26

I'm pretty happy with my power set. So I am just going to increase my red status dye because as a mischievous I was already kind of having bad status dice, and this will help me fix that up.

Ryan Boelter  46:35

Mm hmm.

Jon - System Mastery  46:37

Yeah, I'm just gonna switch the dice in between transmutation and shapeshifting. So that transmutation is a little better. So that'll take the d h. shapeshifting. We'll go to the D six.

Ryan Boelter  46:50

I think I'll increase my red status diet as well. From a D 10. To a D 12. Perfect.

Jef - System Mastery  46:58

You're really clutching a hard situation. Yeah.

Jon - System Mastery  47:01

Increasing the status dies, basically, was there anything you really weren't happy with? No, than just increase your status now? Yep. Yeah.

Amelia Antrim  47:09

I'm thinking about changing one of my qualities was close combat. And that's like the one that doesn't feel like

Jef - System Mastery  47:15

yeah, you can go back and just change it to any other choice that you made at that step. Or you could have made it that step. Yeah.

Amelia Antrim  47:22

I'm gonna go through and just change it to imposing renaming everything. I don't know if I have that in me.

Jef - System Mastery  47:34

Well, I'm gonna submit this to your Dropbox so so listeners can go and look at it and I want it to be as awesome as possible

Jon - System Mastery  47:40

I'm gonna do this for the approval of the midnight society so

Jef - System Mastery  47:43

they've already turned it down. They don't know

Ryan Boelter  47:46

you don't need the approval you're a lone wolf

Jef - System Mastery  47:53

that's the one thing that the that's what's that show called john Are you afraid of the party afraid of the dark was missing was the kid who just ran in and told the story whether or not anyone cared?

Jon - System Mastery  48:05

Also the following page after this is your health calculation as well

Amelia Antrim  48:12

as trying to look at necromancer names and like they're just someone's name is just sees our anatomy

Jef - System Mastery  48:24

like on a random rolling charters

Unknown Speaker  48:25

Jef - System Mastery  48:29

just go with something yes sounds evil but isn't go with like, I don't know, gazpacho malicous

Amelia Antrim  48:36

what is the we're looking up like? terms for like when somebody does like colloquialisms when a person is dead. For some other game and there was I don't know, we somehow ended up with like, crow pudding. Like there was something to do with like pudding and crow is I don't remember what the exact like term was. But we're like CRO putting in is

Jef - System Mastery  48:56

you've probably seen that that meme going around with the star sign linked up with potato foods just go with necromancer Professor Sagittarius neoci.

Ryan Boelter  49:06

Yeah, I think I'll do help health while while I think I'm the name.

Amelia Antrim  49:14

Yeah. Okay, so for health. add up the following numbers. Eight. That's easy. Okay, I got it. Eight. The maximum value of your red status die. Eight, maximum value. Any of your athletic powers or mental qualities.

Ryan Boelter  49:35

Oh, boy. If you don't pour, it looks like

Amelia Antrim  49:40

yeah, I think one of my qualities was mental. Not

Ryan Boelter  49:46

Yeah, I think my athletics the best one I have is a D six.

Jon - System Mastery  49:51

I got a D 10 in my creativity. So I get to use that.

Jef - System Mastery  49:56

I'm mischievous. So I can use whatever single Creative or whatever single quality or power I would prefer. So I'm just gonna take transmutation and give myself a D 12. Oh, wow. Over 12 but it's made up for by my having bad status dice.

Ryan Boelter  50:11

Yeah. So I'm up to 26 at this point.

Jon - System Mastery  50:15

20 3036 Oh, wow. And then you can take a D eight, or just a four. I took a D eight and roll six. I took a D eight roll Nate.

Ryan Boelter  50:26

Oh, take a D eight as well. Cuz why not live on the edge? right?

Jon - System Mastery  50:31

Ryan Boelter  50:31

Do I also rolled an eight?

Jef - System Mastery  50:35

Alright, Amelia 331. should

Amelia Antrim  50:43

put me in a 23 Oh, boy.

Ryan Boelter  50:48

One of the group. Yeah,

Jon - System Mastery  50:49

that's standard. That's

Amelia Antrim  50:50

okay, cuz I'm already dead.

Ryan Boelter  50:55

So it has a health quick reference chart for what number we get, right?

Jef - System Mastery  51:00

So you're gonna write down those ranges in each of the three call out boxes under health range. So for example, I have 36. So between 36 and 28 health, I'm in the green range. But the moment I dropped to 27 I go to the yellow range, even if the environment itself is not in yellow yet.

Ryan Boelter  51:16

Okay. Yeah, I

Jon - System Mastery  51:17

ended up with 34. Hey, trapeze.

Ryan Boelter  51:21

Me too. Cool. Yeah. So 34 to 2625 to 13, and then 12 to one. That's pretty cool. And then I'm assuming you just put your current at your max.

Jon - System Mastery  51:34

Interestingly, after every, like, scenario, basically, once you're done with a scene, you'll bump your health up to whatever the next category of what you were in. Oh, so if you're ready, go to the max yellow. If you were in yellow, you go to your max green.

Ryan Boelter  51:53

Oh, very cool.

Jon - System Mastery  51:54

And if you were out, you just go to your max red. So there you go.

Ryan Boelter  51:57

Okay. I want to see if they've got it. Powers explained. thing here.

Jon - System Mastery  52:02

Yep. In case you don't know what words are? Yeah,

Jef - System Mastery  52:06

that's great for things like some of the weirder powers like multiple limbs or something like that if you if you just want to know what that means.

Ryan Boelter  52:14

That's very cool. Okay, so we got our health we got all that other stuff. And it looks like we're into the finishing touches now.

Jef - System Mastery  52:22

Yes, indeed. All right. And finishing touches is literally just filling out that top right side box where you just put down your gender and if you want to and your age and eyes and that kind of thing.

Amelia Antrim  52:34

Your age in your eyes. That's it.

Ryan Boelter  52:40

After those age eyes,

Jon - System Mastery  52:43

what do you know they're both 17

Jef - System Mastery  52:48

as old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth. There we go. All right. I like this character.

Ryan Boelter  52:55

Name. Hero name and alias. I'm assuming hero name is your your regular everyday name.

Jef - System Mastery  53:04

And then it's it's your hero name.

Ryan Boelter  53:06

Okay. So the alias is clerkin at that point hmm

Jef - System Mastery  53:12

we could good we could get into a long Kill Bill cell discussion about which one of those is the alias but

Jon - System Mastery  53:19

we want

Jef - System Mastery  53:20

noting that the Kill Bill movie got a dead wrong.

Jon - System Mastery  53:23

And Yep, absolute flip backwards. Get out of here Tarantino.

Jef - System Mastery  53:30

I wish that was what people yelled at Quentin Tarantino about all the time instead of like putting too much violence and cursing in his movies. If every time he appeared in an interview people were like you got Batman and Superman backwards?

Jon - System Mastery  53:39

You don't understand comics every time. Also, what's

Amelia Antrim  53:44

up with all the feet Quentin?

Jef - System Mastery  53:45

I have a fetish for it. Anyway, back to Batman and Superman.

Amelia Antrim  53:54

Can't think of a good name.

Jef - System Mastery  53:56

You just need a superhero name.

Amelia Antrim  53:58

I mean both your name I my character is 400 years old. And for their skin I put white just so white.

Jef - System Mastery  54:10

It sounds to me like what you need is one of those Latin the names.

Jon - System Mastery  54:13

Yeah. Hero name wrestle rectus. Yeah.

Jef - System Mastery  54:20

Just been Sorum Veritas it just means soda machine

Jon - System Mastery  54:25

wrestler erection No.

Unknown Speaker  54:32

bone bone zone.

Jef - System Mastery  54:37

How about oses zona,

Ryan Boelter  54:39

sir. Is there a word or two that that means? feel it in my bones.

Jef - System Mastery  54:44

I mean, that's just Latin for bone zone.

Ryan Boelter  54:51

could just go with bones, maybe with a Z if you want to be edgy.

Jon - System Mastery  54:58

I mean, you could just be necklace. Something like that. osseous that's just Latin for skeleton.

Amelia Antrim  55:05

I was kind of thinking that that does already sound like a superhero name.

Jef - System Mastery  55:10

Which one? osseous. Yeah, totally. You just need to you need to honorific in front of that. That's all. You're all set just like Professor osseous or something.

Ryan Boelter  55:21

All right, I got my name. Names rather. So I've got an alias of ARIA felonious hero name. krimson. avatar.

Amelia Antrim  55:34

Very good.

Jef - System Mastery  55:35

Do you want to keep going? Tell us more about those attributes. Oh, yeah.

Ryan Boelter  55:38

She her age 15. height, five foot four. purple eyes, with red and purple mixed colored hair, tan skin, lanky and unassuming build. Alright.

Jef - System Mastery  55:53

So I went with my hero name is the constant. And that's because his whole gimmick is that he's the only version of himself that he has ever encountered in countless parallel universes.

Jon - System Mastery  56:05

Oh, wow. The alias constants

Jef - System Mastery  56:10

are very good. But yeah, everywhere he goes, he meets duplicates of every single other person. He meets over and over and over again the same people. But he's never met another of himself. He's pretty sure he's the only one that's wild. And his alias is Tom Hanks. And, and make sense. And the reason he's alias is Tom Hanks is because he's found that in almost every university goes to whether he's an actor or not. Tom Hanks is a beloved figure that everyone likes. And so he finds it easy to disarm people by meeting new people whenever he pops into a new dimension. Maybe like yeah, my name is Tom Hanks. Yes, just like the famous person you all enjoy. That's another alias you know, I don't know what his real name is. It's probably constants. Yeah, constant sorrow. Some sort of man of constant sorrow. Oh, and then he's male. He's somewhere in his 40s. He's about he's just under six feet tall has green hair, black eyes and, and light brown skin. And his build is I just put on assuming. Now I want to I want to make sure I don't add slender. And his hero outfit is a loose fitting jumpsuit that is strapped all around with all kinds of various it's a light blue jumpsuit with a bunch of black straps all over it. And every strap is there to hang a variety of tools. But anyone looking will notice that they have no idea what any of those tools are. They don't make any sense. Okay. Finally, he has a wraparound visor he wears that constantly, constantly cycled through various light spectrums, which would be really disorienting for anyone else to wear. But he's always worn it because dimensions have different levels of what is visible electromagnetic light.

Amelia Antrim  57:54

Does he have a tiny airplane though?

Jef - System Mastery  57:55

Do I have a tiny airplane? It's one of my tools. Yes, it's I have a tiny airplane on my straps. Are you just checking to see if I'm making the elephant again? I don't remember.

Jef - System Mastery  58:16

This guy. Sadly, I made the decision to go for Interstellar and not alien. So he's just a guy. I've failed in my general mission.

Jon - System Mastery  58:25

Yes to miss TV is for your mystery.

Ryan Boelter  58:31

And I think krimson avatars outfit is like a swirling red and purple energy that kind of forms around her body from a central amulet. So it's kind of like her her power suit. Hmm. And most of most of her abilities stem from from that activation.

Jef - System Mastery  58:51

That's awesome. I know there's there's a late period x man that has that kind of I forget her name, but armor armor. That's right. Yeah. Thank you. You're welcome. It's not exactly the same. You're saying that. It's like a swirling energy source. And I think armors whole thing is like, invisible giant arms are not translucent.

Jon - System Mastery  59:08

She's basically like, Green Lantern, but only for creating a mech. Yeah.

Ryan Boelter  59:14

Oh, yeah. Okay, I see that. That looks pretty cool. Yeah, it's like a Green Lantern. Red looking mech of sorts. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, this is this is like actual outfit that replaces her whatever outfit she was wearing.

Jon - System Mastery  59:29

Oh, cool. All right. My hero name is Kai Mehra.

Ryan Boelter  59:33

Oh, my

Jon - System Mastery  59:34

alias is Robert Krueger. They are non binary. Age 19. six foot three. Eyes, red hair, constantly changing skin constantly changing, build, constantly changing, and costume. Always changing as well except for the claws. Which are always present, and always the same no matter what they change into. Oh, cool, real and always glowing red eyes. So those are the only two constants.

Jef - System Mastery  1:00:13

I'm the constant

Jon - System Mastery  1:00:16

Jef - System Mastery  1:00:18

My real name is Constance.

Jon - System Mastery  1:00:21

your real name is Tom Hanks.

Jef - System Mastery  1:00:23

Oh, that's right. Just like your famous Earth celebrity.

Ryan Boelter  1:00:28

We've got a range of ages for this group. 15 to 400.

Amelia Antrim  1:00:33

Jef - System Mastery  1:00:37

But I want to hear about the necromancer that does the necromancer look. 400

Amelia Antrim  1:00:42

Jon - System Mastery  1:00:43

not a day or 200

Amelia Antrim  1:00:45

think of an honorific so we'll have to just like I'm gonna have to think about that. So far. It's just osseous alias Bonnie Newman. Um, gender. She her for her pronouns. Age 400. Height five, nine. Eyes black hair. black skin. So so white. Build is slim, almost like wispy costume. I put black robes red lining, very sets vibes.

Ryan Boelter  1:01:17

Like that. Very cool. It. Did we do it? Did we make our people? I think we did characters. That's characters right. Wow, that's

Jon - System Mastery  1:01:26

characters. Can't say it a?

Ryan Boelter  1:01:29

No. Yeah, I

Jef - System Mastery  1:01:30

think at this point, you should be able to look at your character and kind of go Oh, yeah. Alright, I see that this has come together. You've got powers, you've got abilities.

Amelia Antrim  1:01:37

Make sense?

Jon - System Mastery  1:01:38

I've got my man who could ask for anything more.

Ryan Boelter  1:01:43

Yeah, I do have a very good picture in my mind of who this person kinda is as a hero. I am trying to stretch that to what they would be like as a normal person to but

Amelia Antrim  1:01:59

doesn't matter. Yeah. I mean, it could potentially matter. I think I like so that it didn't feel like I had to work to get there. Yeah, to get to like, what, how to pull all of this stuff together. Unlike in heroes Unlimited, where it felt like none of my things went together?

Jon - System Mastery  1:02:20

Well, I think the real thing is because you get a choice in your random selection. Yeah, can while it is sort of a bit randomized, you can guide yourself a little towards something. So if you see, you know, I've got three choices. And two of them don't make any sense. You can avoid having that sort of, I have a hodgepodge of random nonsense problem.

Jef - System Mastery  1:02:45

Yeah, there is nothing stopping you from just making choices at every level, using your background and so on. Especially because some of them like when you're rolling a t 10. For for background to D 10, you're unlikely to roll the 20 which I think is like created or something, because it's a one in 100 chance that he rolled to his hands. So making your choice and doing a choice base will give you some access to some of the things that are otherwise very hard to get at. But I like the guidance system here. You end up it makes sense as you make your way through.

Ryan Boelter  1:03:16

Yeah, absolutely. Well, thank you so much for joining us for our Sentinel Comics character creation episodes. Jeff and john. Here, so fun. These Yeah, these this is a fun character creation system. You warned us, quote unquote, warned us in the beginning. But I believe you know,

Amelia Antrim  1:03:39

we didn't before you're not very trustworthy.

Jon - System Mastery  1:03:42

say nice things about heroes. So you should not trust.

Unknown Speaker  1:03:48

Good game.

Ryan Boelter  1:03:51

So do you want to remind people where they can find you online?

Amelia Antrim  1:05:31

thank you both so much for sitting down with us for an actually good game this time. We will be back again next week for part three. called to Yeah, like that. These episodes have been so much fun so far like this. You know, I like the description of this game as the promise of heroes unlimited fulfilled. I think, like I can start to see like, what what it is about the genre that really like pulls you in? Because heroes Unlimited, did not show me that.

Ryan Boelter  1:06:12

I don't know what you're talking about. There's so many random tables.

Amelia Antrim  1:06:17

It's true. It's true. I cannot wait to take this book to Academy. Oh, yeah. No, this was this was a lot of fun. This was a lot of fun. And I'm really glad that we got time to cover this one. Finally. Because as I'm learning, it's been on our list since the beginning. And I feel so bad. I feel so bad. I'm sorry. There's, gosh, there's so many games on our list. And we just try to like, we try to have a balance of like new things and old things and like crunchy things and lighter things. And I, you know, in a matter of like, who can we find to talk about them when we are also available and just oh, gosh, what a mess. So I'm so sorry that this has been on my list. But we did it. And I had nice things to say about it. So I think really, it's probably better for the designers that we had a chance to cover heroes unlimited first, so I could be excited as I was about this game. True. But before we let you go for the week and let you wonder what I'll have to say in the discussion episode. Here are our quick calls to action.
