I don't think we have any other big announcements right now. So let's get back to the conclusion of our character creation series for trash mob enjoy.

Ryan Boelter  2:40

On the last episode of Character Creation Cast, Amelia was created to Yugi Oh champion, melody was creating a bodyguard and I was playing at Popstar undercover, all going to a convention together when our plane went down. We all woke up as various animals. Amelia a dangerous snake melody a Mighty Mouse that me a majestic goose. were picking up right where we left off last time. Enjoy.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  3:11

So we've got all our skills sorted now. And we basically do we know kind of what we're going to look like we got a goose a rat and a snake. Okay, so there's

Ryan Boelter  3:28

just these these every day like small animals

Unknown Speaker  3:33

yeah

Ryan Boelter  3:34

yeah and and and the the knowledge that they're gonna become super powerful is amazing.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  3:42

Old MacDonald had a farm that conquered the planet the the last step for this pretty much is we're gonna we're going to go ahead and then we're not doing any of the optional rules so we can skip that section A is your new home and this decides our setting. So in this in this may make us like look at what we're doing and rethink it. The simplest possibility is that we end up in you know, the mega dungeon, but but we'll see so Does anybody feel like rolling a die for I can go for it. We'll see. Cool I can't be blamed for what happens

Unknown Speaker  4:30

I got a sore

Melody - Mother Multiverse  4:30

you got a four we are in the barren wastes. Mm hmm. So where we're at is somewhere that is a kind of you know, not great suited for human life. A lot of ruins abandoned colonies a testament of failure. Place where only kind of the strong survive and you're it's a very desperate kind of survival thing. You know what I think might be fun just making Maybe because of the seasons, maybe our barren waste should be an icy wasteland. Oh, yeah. Right. And then it's and then it might be really interesting that you're a snake.

Amelia Antrim  5:11

I'm just gonna hibernate then I guess.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  5:14

Well, there's the thing. These are, you know, fantasy creatures, even when they're real creatures, you know, fantastical in nature to some degree. So if you're like a snake that is like, say, a snow snake, like it has white scales, and it can just, you know, survive. Yeah, like, that's totally a doable thing. You know, I'll be a tiny little white mouse of some type. And that will be, you know, a thing. Already, I've

Ryan Boelter  5:43

already a white goose. Oh. So

Melody - Mother Multiverse  5:47

So basically, we're all we're all Arctic adapted creatures. Um, now, if we were, if we were actually playing the game, which, you know, we're mostly making characters right now and kind of talking through that, so worth a barren waste. The other thing we would do is we would figure out our starter space. Because the first place you end up is a safe zone, right. And that safe zone is kind of the place you start, I feel like having a kind of somewhat mysterious, like icy cavern that maybe has, I don't know, like carvings or possibly like little frozen like little statues of animals and stuff in it. And then we're just alive there. That might be kind of fun. Almost like, you know, like one of those. Well, how did we get here where we just regularly born? No, we just kind of manifested here. Because trying to explain how these three animals end up in the same place and don't kill each other immediately a little tricky. Obviously, a group assumption is is that while we cannot yet speak to human beings, we can somehow communicate with each other. So I like that. Yeah. So I yeah, we'll end up in a little icy cavern together and probably after initial freakout, so we would have a bunch of adventures. And that would be kind of the beginning of the game

Ryan Boelter  7:06

like that. I like the thought of this, this cavern being kind of in the middle of a snowy Plains or whatever, right. But like, a small cave system within it, and like an abandoned shelter left over from ages ago. Oh, so like, there's like, you know, like, discarded gear, things that are kind of useless or whatever. But like, you know, maybe there's a bedroll and maybe there's like, leftover firewood or something like that, right?

Melody - Mother Multiverse  7:42

Yeah. How does the title of cavern have carved idols? Does that sound good?

Ryan Boelter  7:49

Like that?

Melody - Mother Multiverse  7:50

Yeah, it sounds evocative. So now we've got kind of the idea of our Icy Berry and West wastes. And that's, that's pretty much it. Like that is initial character creation. From there, it's all just gonna go right into the role playing of these characters are what they do when they first realize, Oh, God, we all died. Oh, God, were these critters. Everything is snow. What do we do? Yeah. Because like, let's face it, those initial, you know, sort of emotional reactions.

Unknown Speaker  8:24

Probably not.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  8:25

Like, you'd have to go through the motions of okay, we're alive. Great. And then also the level of, we can't just stay here we will starve to death. So, and then

Amelia Antrim  8:40

a mouse and I do want to eat you.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  8:42

I mean, I kind of figured that, but I am very strong.

Amelia Antrim  8:49

I mean, there would be at least a small amount of time figuring that I try to come to terms with the fact that you look like food and I'm not a

Melody - Mother Multiverse  8:56

foodie, you like, Okay, I hear you.

Amelia Antrim  9:00

But I understand what you're saying. But also, I'm really hungry. So

Melody - Mother Multiverse  9:05

listen, I still have duties from the last life and I can't protect you if you've eaten me.

Amelia Antrim  9:14

Mike, I don't think my contract is technically up just because you're a snake now. So

Melody - Mother Multiverse  9:19

yeah, that's that seems, listen, this is all I've got left. I'm gonna hang on to my job, okay. Anything but that's fine.

Amelia Antrim  9:29

I do notice that the character she has named before which I spent all that time has a new name,

Melody - Mother Multiverse  9:35

new name. So one of the things is and this is something I've seen in a couple of the anime is that when you start over this new life, you don't have a name right out the gate. Um, but what will happen at some point is either through leveling up or meeting somebody with the ability to do it, or having that ability develop on your own. You will get a name and when you draw that gives you power. So when you're a good name, you'll get a level up and depending on how strong the magic word or what at the bonus of whatever rep level up role you made that all kind of give you a sudden bump of ability.

Unknown Speaker  10:17

Oh, interesting. Very cool.

Amelia Antrim  10:19

That's really cool. I like that. Concepts of like, names have power.

Unknown Speaker  10:23

Such a good.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  10:26

And then when you get really powerful, you get titles. Yeah. Yeah. Very cool.

Ryan Boelter  10:33

Um, so it sounds like, that's pretty much it for the actual character creation. It is, um, we now know what I was thinking. Tell me if this is too wild. Can we take it up a level now? Take it up a level, a level and go through some advancements? Not

Amelia Antrim  10:56

the format, right? No, let's do that. Because that's, I mean, that's a lot of what this game is about. The growth.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  11:05

Growth is also part of how things go. So like, we obviously don't have time to play a whole game. No. So I have gone to the trouble of kind of giving us a an outline for how that might work. Okay, as if events happen. So level one. And mind you, oh, how this game works when you level levels do not give you specific things. There are a series of charts called the leveling, twist charts. And so at every level, you roll to see what kind of leveling twist occurs. Okay, doing different things can give you bonuses to this chart roll. So there is rules for grinding, if you've beaten an enemy and taken no damage in the fight, you just go out and start hunting those things over and over again, level your character up. And so if you can do a level grind, and if you get the best result for doing it, you will get not only more levels, but you will get stronger levels where you get a higher chance of getting the really good stuff on these charts. So yeah, that's that's kind of how it goes. And it's sort of supposed to simulate, like, if you play, you know, an out of the box, like video game, or a JRPG kind of thing. If you haven't looked at the strategy guides, you have no idea what kind of abilities you're gonna get. Yeah. And so it's kind of the same way where you suddenly hit level one, what did I get? Oh, I got fireball. That sounds awesome. I get level two, what do I get? You got nothing? Why did I get nothing? I wanted something. And then you hit level three. And suddenly you get something that's like a small bump to some abilities and you're frustrated, and you hit level four, and you get something really great that you're like, No, no, this is the thing that's gonna save all our lives. So it's meant to sort of simulate that I've done some of the roles ahead of time, just to save a lot of thunderous rolling of die fours. So Oh, yeah. Once we've hit level one, apparently what we're going to get is we roll on to the improved chart, and we're all getting the resist disease skill. I don't think I did us all. So I'm thinking we probably ran into some rodents and I had to deal with them. Ah, let's just say ice baths. That sounds pretty evocative. Yeah, sounds cool. Yeah, ice baths swarm or something. And because we're multiplayer, we're more likely to hit bigger groups of monsters that's kind of how things are set up. So so we can add resist disease to our church skills. As one of the newest things we've got is level one. Oh yeah. So all the skills are level two, so by all of these, okay, so sorry, I should have filled that in early but it's good to have them organized because you will get a lot of these so that's our level one level two got the improved chart again and we get plus five levels to a skill of our choice. I'm considering what I

Ryan Boelter  14:09

got huh? We get five levels in in one skill or

Melody - Mother Multiverse  14:15

plus five and if you spend it on one skill you level one oh by five and that'll probably bring something you have up to six

Amelia Antrim  14:24

Yeah, I'm gonna go poisonous poison attack. Oh, there you go.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  14:29

I think I'm thinking I'm going to just keep being a jock and I'm going to take it up to six on my muscle so that yeah, I went with real swole I was

Ryan Boelter  14:38

six six on my charm.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  14:39

Okay, six on Sherm yep no, that's it's a strong skill. It's a good one to level up to be perfectly honest. Alright, so very charming, very charming. Level three now. And of course, recording your level is also important because having a higher level than something can give you bonus dice. Being able to do. The next thing we get is a skill unlock new skill on lock off the basic chart. So this is where leveling can kind of get divergent among a group of people. One of the suggestions for characters creation is everybody playing the same type of monster. But one thing I found very quickly is nobody ever wants to do that. Because everybody wants to be unique and interesting, right? So like, you know, your, your love will get a little all over the place, but it's more fun to do different things. So what happens here is if we go back to the new form chart, and that's I believe, page 2627 2828. We look at our subtypes, so vermin for some of us, domestic animals, or other and we roll a die for to see which of those subcategories we get. Now, if you roll your same type, you get plus one skill to everything you have. Oh, wow. If you roll something else, you get to pick one of the two skills that they have. So you're going to diversify what you can do or everything you do is going to get a little better. I love labor too. So I am getting plus one to what I already got. That's where leveling has gone.

Amelia Antrim  16:20

So I roll a four which is a small human I'd write mermaids. In between in my own category I

Melody - Mother Multiverse  16:28

your own category, you're looking for vermin right now. Okay,

Amelia Antrim  16:31

so I got four, which is not what I had before

Melody - Mother Multiverse  16:35

as an aberration, so you can either get the acid attack, or you can get the resist bashing skill.

Unknown Speaker  16:40

Hmm. Okay, well,

Amelia Antrim  16:42

I'm gonna poison attack. Yeah,

Melody - Mother Multiverse  16:45

yeah, resist bashing might give you some defense if we fight something that's really punchy, Punchy. That's very true.

Amelia Antrim  16:50

I probably should even though Assa tech sounds cool.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  16:53

And also be like no one day I will be the beholder. That is a snake like it is entirely

Amelia Antrim  16:59

I just really want acid attack. I just want to be terrible.

Ryan Boelter  17:05

Terrible. Yeah.

Amelia Antrim  17:09

Ryan's like whatever stopped you before.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  17:12

Look, I can't just toys and things now I can also cover them. And that's it.

Amelia Antrim  17:18

I think the thing this is the thing that I love about making this show though, is that I know what the smart choices here. And I get to say, nah.

Ryan Boelter  17:32

Man choice. Yeah.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  17:34

So what do you get for domestic?

Ryan Boelter  17:36

I rolled a hunting animal saw? I love that for my goose? Yeah.

Amelia Antrim  17:45

Are hunting animals.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  17:46

Let me tell you the two skills there Hunter is a really good gun. Because the thing it lets you do is that when we start to go to a new area, you get to know what kind of area it is even if you don't know the specifics. So if we're walking towards enemies, you'll know we're walking towards enemies. And if you're walking towards like a hazard, you know what's going to be a hazard ahead. Oh, nice. And so it gives you a lot more ability to kind of choose how you're exploring the map. Yeah, perception on the other hand works as a bonus to several different kinds of situations anywhere where senses would be useful. It also gives you a counter to movement skills because kind of the anime thing of where like, you know, somebody's moving super speed and the characters just like I know exactly where you are and just like get some light so you can overcome speed with your observation.

Ryan Boelter  18:41

Oh, yes. I really like Hunter for my goose just because Oh yeah.

Amelia Antrim  18:48

Oh, sounds cool. Ah,

Melody - Mother Multiverse  18:51

it's strong. That's a good one. Okay,

Amelia Antrim  18:55

my goose has a knife now

Melody - Mother Multiverse  18:58

we get another one of these skill on Locks that's what came up when I was rolling. So you know we now get to do this again. Oh, do the same thing again. Yep, same again get another another fun ability. Like I got a for this time so I get to choose between acid attack and resist a bathroom. And because it fits the character definitely taken resists bashing.

Amelia Antrim  19:20

Oh, I got rodent so I got disease attack or speed obviously these attack is really cool. Just gently Are you

Ryan Boelter  19:35

becoming like a like a snake Hydra. Oh man. Oh sword.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  19:41

I don't know you totally can like the aesthetics once again can kind of be what your word or so. Yeah, I'm definitely taking resist bashing because uh, you know bodyguard that seems. That seems like the right. The right idea.

Ryan Boelter  20:02

So I rolled food animal. For my my one up here.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  20:06

We're already a food animal. Do you add everything you have already?

Ryan Boelter  20:11

So I get all my stuff gets leveled up,

Melody - Mother Multiverse  20:16

all your stuff gets one added to it. You don't get anything new, but you add one to everything you've got. Oh,

Ryan Boelter  20:22

that's glorious. Yeah,

Melody - Mother Multiverse  20:23

it's nice. Level two Hunter. So we got all of our level four kind of sorted away. Alright, yep. So level five improved chart. It just came up, we got a resist. I randomized it, we got resistance of our so this means we probably ran into some zombies out in the snow, some sort of, you know, devouring Deadman Trosset ease of one type or another? Yeah, did you once again, aesthetics, like, you know, we might, you know, say there's some other kind of specific thing like, oh, gosh, it's high schools. But, you know, definitely like resistive hours, the next thing we got, and that means somebody used it against us. And that's how we got it. So. So resist the virus or next bit. And then there's a little narrative bit here, because leveling up isn't just the levels in this, there are other ways you can get skills. So after having dealt with these zombies, my assumption is we probably had a rough time of it, because they, we got a resist out of it, which means we all got hit. So research is an action you can take and if you get a four on a research role, and it's field research, specifically, because this would be something like we all go okay, like two of us can sneak, we're gonna go and we're gonna like just pop out of the snow and watch these zombies like do their thing for a while. And then we do like a field research to figure out their whole Horde and tactics thing. And so now we all get the Horde tactic skill. Yeah, so you would, unfortunately in this case, it just means you're adding one to it. It's not like that. But but that is you know how that goes. So we're all getting horde tactics, because we studied the zombies to learn their Kung Fu, basically. And

Ryan Boelter  22:19

ninja zombie. Yeah. And

Melody - Mother Multiverse  22:21

after that, we decided to skill grime. Skill grinds, where you practice a skill to get better at it. Okay, as long as you're kind of in a safe spot, you can, you can pretty much do that. I think again, I mean, you'll still have to make survival rolls every day. So eventually might kind of become a problem by skill grind. This case, I rolled a three so we get a plus three. And we also get a mystery skill. Oh, mystery skills will come up and they'll have an on lock condition, right? And so you're going to mystery skill and then you roll the unlock condition. It can be different things. It could be you need to socialize with somebody, it can be that you need to do some research. In this particular case, it's when we take damage. Now, one of the advantages of being a multiplayer game is there's a very easy way for us to take. Yeah, so assuming we did try to eat that is entirely possible.

Amelia Antrim  23:29

I can't take it anymore.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  23:31

Yep. So we all get a plus three to our horn tactics. So it goes up three more. So for two of us that should be about four and one of us it should be at least five.

Ryan Boelter  23:43

Yeah, I got six for my horn tactic.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  23:47

And we get a mystery skill on loft to do so that I was thinking about like having it be a specific and we all get the same but it'll be probably more fun if we all get a roll and see what we get. Yeah, like rolling so it's it's the surprise factor, right? It's like gonna get so just feel so good. Everybody go ahead and roll a d for for mystery skills. True Nature. I would say in this case, because we're not playing like a long form game. Obviously. We're just going through how this works a reroll results of one I got a physical unlock because I rolled a four.

Ryan Boelter  24:31

Okay, I got a two for mine.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  24:34

Okay, I think it means you get fashion so to pick a new kind of class so interesting could be a fantasy type job class. You might be like cool, I'm a mage now. Or you could pick something like you know, not only did I you know sing when I was alive, but I'd also been training to be some some form of job or whatever.

Ryan Boelter  24:59

I'll make Gosh, just pick

Melody - Mother Multiverse  25:01

a skill that somehow fits with that new job class on lock. So that's how that kind of works.

Ryan Boelter  25:10

Okay? Oh, goodness,

Amelia Antrim  25:12

where? Where are those?

Melody - Mother Multiverse  25:13

That is, uh, the you just make it up. Like, oh, this is one of the things is making this game. I abstracted things like manna pools, hit points, etc. Because trying to build an entire game that runs on numbers that are likely in the 1000s to 10,000. Yes. But I can make a fun little game, that die force that gives you how those things actually play out dramatically when you play the game. So, yeah, you can just pick something that you think really fits with, with what you've got going on.

Amelia Antrim  25:51

And so this would be based on my what I did before.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  25:55

No, you can pour in a class so like you've made tons of damage things if you were just to be like, you know, a sorcerer or Warlock or something like that. Hmm. I've heard some people are partial the Necromancer is

Ryan Boelter  26:10

I don't know.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  26:14

As your job,

Amelia Antrim  26:15

I did a lot of killing. I would like to unkilled the things that I killed. We've also been fighting a lot of undead been fighting a lot of zombies. I would like to know how to do them. I would like to make my own zombies now is fine, but I would like to make my own. So if

Melody - Mother Multiverse  26:31

you want to do that, what I would recommend is take necromancer as a new class you have. And I would take the summon skill. Oh, and then we'll assume that what you can summon is one of the undead from the undead chart.

Ryan Boelter  26:47

Oh, that's amazing. I'm going with I'm torn between like, you know, a magic user. Or Bard, I think I think my heart's more set on a goose that can shoot fireballs.

Amelia Antrim  27:04

Mm hmm.

Ryan Boelter  27:06

Because it just sounds amazing.

Amelia Antrim  27:10

The idea of like, you know, a goose whose honks are magical, you know? Oh, like a magically honking goose and it's just like the dulcet tones of goose's. Just like honk out Kelly Clarkson songs or something and it'll sound just like if I Amelia as the person tried to sing Kelly Clarkson.

Unknown Speaker  27:41

Well, I'm sorry,

Amelia Antrim  27:42

what did you say my skill should be.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  27:46

Coming in specifically, you would say Summon, and you can pick one of the four types of undead from the form chart. Kind of undead you wanted to summon?

Amelia Antrim  27:55

me so happy.

Ryan Boelter  27:57

I'm gonna go with sourcer unlocking a, like an in in neat, like magic power within me. Sure.

Amelia Antrim  28:10

Yeah, your innate goose,

Melody - Mother Multiverse  28:12

she could, you could go to the magic unlock and pick one of the magic abilities off of that chart. 93. The other thing I might recommend because you already have charm. And you know, you might get it eventually. But magic word lets you speak any language and read any language and it also gives you the ability to name other people and be able to give them that level boost thing. Oh, no, you don't have to but it is something that seems appropriate for like a

Ryan Boelter  28:47

one b

Amelia Antrim  28:50

so hear me out. I want to do haunted items. Because I feel like that's the closest I can get to my YuGiOh cards.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  28:59

Oh, actually makes a lot of sense. Yeah, I like it. I got a boring one. I got natural armor. So I am just tougher now. But you know for for style points. I'm thinking after having been like, you know, nearly eaten so many times.

Amelia Antrim  29:22

Wearing the bones I would like you to make an armor out of the bones of the things that you've killed. I was

Melody - Mother Multiverse  29:27

actually thinking they literally just have like calcium deposits just a run out of their body and like full armor around them. Also very

Amelia Antrim  29:36

cool. Yeah. But maybe human style, at least a hat.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  29:42

You know what? Sure, why not have a cap or some type? Actually, that does make them a really snazzy minion for your character if they have cool BONE ARMOR that they just make happen. So yeah, I'm gonna go with that now. Yeah, they got love.

Ryan Boelter  29:59

I love it. All right, love it. Look at this tea. Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with that thing where you can speak any language because that sets me up for like, future magical shenanigans. Because I want to be able to yell. Fireball. Yeah. And and like, have my wings like, do you know? I don't know, uh, you heal or not, uh, you do like a DBZ sort of Dragon Ball at somebody.

Amelia Antrim  30:28

I really want your ghost to have a magical girl transformation scene at some point. Oh, absolutely.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  30:34

Wait for it. Okay. Okay.

Amelia Antrim  30:38

Okay, oh my gosh.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  30:39

All right. We've got all our mystery skills in order, right? We've all picked out a fun thing there. So now now we're getting back to kind of normal levels, we get plus five, to another skill at level six. Um, and five, here's the thing, some of our skills could roll over 10. When you go past 10 In a skill, what happens is those extra points, you just subtract 10 from it. And you get the improved version of that skill. Oh, for instance, what I'll probably do right now, because I can is I will spend my five points on muscle to get it to improve the muscle to nice, which will make me

Ryan Boelter  31:28

row tough. I would probably put that into charm. Then if we have five points. You said five points, which was my charm at? Gosh, 12. Yeah.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  31:39

Which means it turns over to improve charm too. So yeah, I

Amelia Antrim  31:43

put it in my poison attack, then

Melody - Mother Multiverse  31:45

that's Yep. So those are all right, Texas. Six plus

Amelia Antrim  31:49

five is 11. So it's improved poison attack? Yeah.

Ryan Boelter  31:52

Oh, I like one, right?

Melody - Mother Multiverse  31:54

Yep. So you'd have improved poison attack. And the thing that does for you is because it's a new tear, especially on attack skills, you get teared dice. And so your chance of poisoning people and hurting them, and it working out goes up.

Ryan Boelter  32:09

Okay, nice. So

Melody - Mother Multiverse  32:11

we've all picked out our next plus five. Level seven was a was a garbage roll. Just going to be honest. We got another resist. And this time we got resist poison. Um, oh, now it could be just one of our teammates tried to eat us. But if it was wise, it probably meant we ran into something that was poisonous. You know, so because, you know, sometimes you don't look out like that is a really low roll for that particular shark. So we're going to get rid of this poison, which, you know, we got a good deal of resists this game that happened? No, it really isn't. Because if you run into it again, you know, you're kind of ready for it. And

Amelia Antrim  33:00

things like you're glad to have it. It's not the most exciting role, but you'll be glad to have it when you

Melody - Mother Multiverse  33:04

have it when you need it. And also when it comes to things like when you roll your same form, and you suddenly get a plus one to everything, or you get an evolution and you get a plus three to everything. Suddenly, those start developing into the improved versions. And you go I'm getting closer and closer to a point where I much develop immunity to a thing Oh, yeah. And no longer get harmed by it. So that's, that's for level seven, level eight. Also a bad role we get plus one to a single skill. Oh, yeah. There's not the best. It's not the best Not gonna lie. I Yeah. If I was to pick a thing right now, I've already got my muscle improve real good. I'm not sure it'll get there. But I'm gonna I'm gonna pump up my BONE ARMOR to to because I like I like the idea of being a little tougher.

Amelia Antrim  33:59

I'm gonna put my regenerator to Okay. I'm gonna

Ryan Boelter  34:02

up my magical word to because it sounds like the higher my magical word becomes. Yeah, I can start naming people. Yep. So so once I once my magical word gets above our level, then it can give us all names.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  34:22

Yeah, and that would be that would be really good because that would that would be dope. That would give us all a level. There's some other high jinks that can be done with it since we're now summoning haunted items. Technically, you can name a summon and what will happen when you get is they become an actual NPC Yes, it's like a summon so like you still have your summon skill but that specific one would become a real NPC which has the ups and downs of an NPC because they have their own personality. And what you, you know, things can happen during Play and if they like Gackt on like a Summon, you don't just like get the gesture and make them come back, you know, be a little careful with them. So let's see here, what levels as level eight, we're going to do level nine, we get another Oh, now now we get to get some real out there. character growth, we've got a new category. Now unlike new skill, this is where we roll a dice for to look for a chart that is not ours. And if you get your own chart just reroll it. So, you know, this is where you branch out and start getting skills out of the other couple categories. So that'll be fun to roll up and see what we get.

Amelia Antrim  35:47

Three Oh, I'm dead.

Ryan Boelter  35:50

Dead. Oh, I'm so thankful that you finally got that. For you,

Melody - Mother Multiverse  35:56

it's fine. We'll see what I get. So then you also have to roll obviously the subtype of

Ryan Boelter  36:02

so if you get the if you get the dummy, so I got domestic animal again. Yeah, all right.

Amelia Antrim  36:11

So I got skeleton.

Ryan Boelter  36:13

When we start times, I will not roll a two. Oh, I got vermin. Okay,

Melody - Mother Multiverse  36:18

I got domestic animal. And then I reroll I rolled the get the the subtype and I got familiar which has magic word in magic boost. Now, technically, none of us have a magic magic ability at this point. But since we already have somebody with magic word, it feels like having magic boosts might be more useful down the line. So I think I'll take that.

Ryan Boelter  36:42

So do we do we oh, what skills do we get out of this then do we pick one of the few subtypes? Yeah,

Melody - Mother Multiverse  36:49

you you roll once to figure out what your category is and then you roll and you pick one of the subspecies that you know one of the species and one of the two skills you get from the species if then this is this is one of those things of each of the obviously forms has its own unique skill. There's charms sneak unliving and humanoid if you have managed to get all the skills out of a subtype and roll it you can pick the like top thing out of it Okay, so that's like so for instance like I have muscle if I were to have if I hadn't during as well for work animal I could do a nick charm and so then I'd be like, you know much more charming tiny wrote it. But, but I'm not so you know, right now my little snow mouse. I could have been a bunny. I should have thought about that. Oh, Bunny. billion times. I'm gonna go with it. Never mind. I've been a bunny the whole time. That's why I love it the whole time. Yeah, that's amazing. Nevermind anything else that was said, rabbit.

Amelia Antrim  37:55

You know what? We haven't actually played the game so it doesn't matter.

Unknown Speaker  37:59

Absolutely true.

Amelia Antrim  38:00

We're still technically in character.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  38:03

This is absolutely true. That's, I've heard it's what the podcast is about.

Unknown Speaker  38:08

I know. Because you know,

Ryan Boelter  38:10

so I rolled a vermin and bug over mine. And one of those is vertical movement.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  38:19

Vertical movement. Yeah, you

Amelia Antrim  38:20

were like, I want my goose to climb walls.

Ryan Boelter  38:24

No, I want to be able to fly. I've been a goose this whole time unable to fly because I've just never figured it out. I've just been running on the ground the whole time. Untitled goose game style.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  38:38

The majestic soaring. lacquers wonderful.

Ryan Boelter  38:44

I'm very happy about that.

Amelia Antrim  38:45

No, it's good. Yeah, took scavenge weapon. Does Miss snake ham hands. No. But

Melody - Mother Multiverse  38:50

does it matter again back to

Amelia Antrim  38:53

I'm slowly on my way to like not

Melody - Mother Multiverse  38:55

once once you get stuck. That's one of those like, you know, when I played the tiny Pixie, I saw them as a ball of light. They got scavenge weapon and my thought was they just telekinetically float the thing and move it around. But you know, it could be you literally pick something up with your mouth and fight with it if that's what

Amelia Antrim  39:12

you ready? Yeah, the snake has

Melody - Mother Multiverse  39:16

like a magical hand. That's only good first.

Amelia Antrim  39:19

Actually, we just tape a knife to my snake's tail. And now

Melody - Mother Multiverse  39:26

I gotta I gotta love the idea of just this snake wrapping around a weapon on one end and using their tail.

Ryan Boelter  39:32

Just like like using your tail as a whip. And like a weapon. Mm hmm. Oh, that's That's amazing.

Amelia Antrim  39:39

Yeah, there's the possibilities.

Ryan Boelter  39:41

Supersonic sword attack.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  39:43

All right. We all we all set feels.

Ryan Boelter  39:47

Yeah, level 10 We

Melody - Mother Multiverse  39:48

got another sad sad roll that was on the basic chart plus one to one skill.

Unknown Speaker  39:54

All right. Oh, wow.

Ryan Boelter  39:55

I know where that's going. magic word. Mm hmm. I gotta keep my eye Gotta keep pace. Yeah, one of these days we'll get a plus five and

Melody - Mother Multiverse  40:05

you know what I might and I think I'm gonna throw it into speed. So I can be a little faster.

Amelia Antrim  40:11

Like that could be useful. Yeah, I'm actually gonna put it into sneak. Okay. All right.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  40:17

So another another little story event kind of thing happened here. So after our last fight, we get a level grind in and we do good on the level grind, we get a result of power level. So this makes it so we got a plus six bonus on leveling twist chart. So we got our first roll on the master chart at level 11 Oh, and usually you would roll a little lower and get evolution where you go down a couple of levels but you add plus three to every skill you have is pretty good. Instead it rolled really good and we got new forms and this is why we all get one level of humanoid so that magical girl transfer me

Ryan Boelter  41:12

Oh amazing.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  41:14

So that's the first thing we get we also get more than that though because this is one of the this is not the most powerful level up in the game there's one above it but this is like the mid tier one and we jump past the first level to the second one which yeah fun because you never know where you're gonna get.

Ryan Boelter  41:33

So we get the humanoid skill

Melody - Mother Multiverse  41:35

we're getting the humanoid skill The other thing is is our original force skills we're adding plus

Ryan Boelter  41:40

five to all of them are original for holy cow.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  41:44

So we all have humanoid one and that means like plus five to whatever your first four skills were

Ryan Boelter  41:56

I hit a hit 11 on horn tactics Ooh

Melody - Mother Multiverse  41:59

Well that means that has now become improved toward tactics one

Ryan Boelter  42:03

so Oh I love it

Melody - Mother Multiverse  42:04

that is that is good

Amelia Antrim  42:08

my refund any real sad about these tally marks later trying to understand what I was doing like I've been like doing them in different colors for each level so that I like keep track of like where I got things and everything but oh yeah

Ryan Boelter  42:21

I've just been going all in and modifiable

Amelia Antrim  42:25

no this is well see I'm gonna hold it up and see it at all. Oh yeah. So but it's all Yeah, it's working in different colors. Yeah I'll clean it up later when I'm done and put it like in the right categories but

Melody - Mother Multiverse  42:41

all right there is one more thing we're going to get to for new for the new form because new form like I said it's the mid level one we get area and area is a skill it's a kind of modify your skill and you can apply it to one attack skill you have and if you do have an attack skill then you kind of apply it to Well basically the whatever you you get Wi Fi was the name of it weapon area. And that means basically it's for any attack you can do any generic attack, but it isn't for like you know actual attack skills so strong and it obviously will get better though if you are a humanoid and gain the ability to wield weapons which we all have now. Yeah, getting those in game means you know either beating up other humanoids and taking them or gathering resources and building them Oh interest Oh, right now I would assume we don't have them um yeah, I think my one attack skill is disease attack to get any other text is

Amelia Antrim  43:58

improved poison attack after attack

Melody - Mother Multiverse  44:01

you have a bunch of attack skills you get to pick disease attack want to make your apply to so you would put it in his area and then the name so I'm going to get area disease

Amelia Antrim  44:12

Okay, I'm going to put area improved poison attack. Okay,

Unknown Speaker  44:16

nice.

Amelia Antrim  44:18

I'm sorry area improved poison attack

Melody - Mother Multiverse  44:20

six. Well, the area starts at one and you just need to say area poison it doesn't need to be

Ryan Boelter  44:27

Yeah, I didn't have any attack skills. So

Melody - Mother Multiverse  44:30

before that you would get weapon area and that pretty much means that you're gonna you're going to be able to do like, you know, area attacks just by fighting, you know, with your regular ability as a goose so you know, just with your wings or poke them, or whatever. And no, of course, once again, back to aesthetics, you know, now we get to all imagine what our characters look like when they hit like a more humanoid form. Oh, Yeah, and because I find it hysterical because I'm very easily amused. Honey who obviously is you know, a bodyguard and her previous life was probably like, six foot even, you know and really ripped she is now only like, you know like four feet tall living BONE ARMOR and looking super pissy but not like actually being very intimidating looking at all. Like, you all know better like oh no, she will take your face off but like, you know,

Ryan Boelter  45:34

what a cute bunny. Haha, yeah. I love it.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  45:39

And I think I think I'll go for just the you know, looks basically human but bunny ears and red eyes kind of deal.

Ryan Boelter  45:45

Oh, yeah. I like I like the the humanoid with the with like small animal features aesthetic.

Amelia Antrim  45:53

I like steak with arms. Oh, yeah.

Ryan Boelter  45:55

Arms. Yet, I think, Gosh, I want to go a humanoid but like, I gain arms. But like my wings go to my back. Yeah,

Amelia Antrim  46:11

no, that's Oh, you took your wings back and then like, yeah, so

Ryan Boelter  46:14

yeah, so my wings become so I look more angelic with like a slightly goose head.

Amelia Antrim  46:21

Right angelic. But actually, you're a goose. So it's demonic. Right?

Melody - Mother Multiverse  46:25

I mean, and this is the thing, like there's still more levels and evolutions to go. So like, you know, this could be a progression. I'm deciding on like going a little bit more full humanoid right now. But I could do more of like an anthropomorphic thing. You know where it's like, then that bunny stood up and crack their knuckles and everybody went, how did that happen? I have. Yeah, these hands mean business? Uh huh. So we got a few more level ups. Everybody got that all sorted out? Absolutely. Awesome. So the last two levels we got out of that power level, but we get two more plus five since we got them all. Oh, wow. That's basically you know, five to 10 points we can we can spread around how we want for kinda, oh, shoring up our new, new improved forms and such

Ryan Boelter  47:17

improved magic words. Level three. So it feels like I can give people names now.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  47:25

Uh, is it what it's what? Oh, it's improved three. You could we could literally go to 14. And if we want to, like, kind of roll one of these quote unquote, honestly, we can totally do that if you'd like to do it. Okay. Let's do it. All right. So all right, so our last one, and what will it let's make sure we're all squared away. I yeah, I added a five to speed and disease attack. So now I've got improved disease attack, improve speed and improve muscle. So that's gonna be nice. Even spread of attack bonus and defense all over the place. For right now. It's gonna be pretty good.

Amelia Antrim  48:08

Yeah, I put my need to sneak and regenerate. So they're both improved.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  48:11

Okay, cool. So not only necromancer thing, but almost like an assassin vibe, kind of starting to like that,

Amelia Antrim  48:20

I will kill you, and then undo it.

Ryan Boelter  48:23

But then you'll be friendly to me. Right. So

Melody - Mother Multiverse  48:28

then the next level, we'll try and roll up for reals here how I'd actually go in the game. Yeah, so you you hit us with magic word, and it's mbf. So that means there would be a plus two bonus for this level 14. We roll in. It's off. We just had the improved chart and every time you roll a chart, it'll lever it may have a bonus for your next role. In particular with this will have a plus four bonus to our roll. Somebody want to roll three dice, four plus four. The if anybody wants to do that,

Ryan Boelter  49:05

I can go for it. Well, actually, let's see here. I'd have to seek out my de force.

Ryan Boelter  49:13

Third, no, it's at the bottom for four somewhere. Got it. Now.

Amelia Antrim  49:27

3d for haha. Let's see. I got two two. And what does this one say? 322 and

Melody - Mother Multiverse  49:37

three, so that's seven plus four. Yeah, we get 11. That puts us on the greater shirt. Okay, so we'll be rolling on the greater shirt and seeing what we get from an A. And now we need to do three di four plus four again for the greater charge to see what we get. There so To know

Amelia Antrim  50:05

All right, I got four for one. So that is eight, nine plus four is 13.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  50:15

Whoa, just hit the highest thing on the greater chart, which is motion. So now not only have we got new form, but we're also going to get evolution. So evolution is pretty straightforward. We're gonna drop by five levels. So we are now Level Nine. But at that, Level Nine, what we're getting is plus three to all the skills we have. Wow. So and no, say that's the time where I go, like, you know, evolutions this, this gets into that whole a static level thing. Like, maybe I did look like you know, more of an anthro bunny. But then suddenly, the evolution hits and it's like, oh, no, now I look like, you know, death Doom bunny made of like, you know, there's all kinds of crazy bone spikes and stuff. And yeah, I'm gonna see what that looks like when I've got all my skills up by three cuz I don't think it does too much for me. You know? Gotta look.

Ryan Boelter  51:18

So I've got, I've got three skills at 10. Yep. I needed to get to 11 to get approved right

Melody - Mother Multiverse  51:24

to get another rank up. Yeah, they got. Yeah, so those are kind of just hovering. But oh, they're so close. It is kind of gratifying to see all of the resists suddenly jumping up and going, oh, one day you might be improved. It could happen. Anybody get anything interesting out of that? I didn't get anything that rolled over at that point for me, no, nothing.

Ryan Boelter  51:48

Nothing that rolled over. But my my, my three improves by improved trauma improved toward tactics and improved magic word have gone up a bit. Yeah. And my improved charm is at level 10. Along with Scavenger, and Grazer and metabolize.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  52:05

That's good. Yeah, I my sneak in my muscle are both sitting at 10. So I'm like one step away from getting greater muscle. Oh, nice. You know, I need to I need to get stronger. So yeah, that's kind of how that goes. If we were to have, you know, if we were to go into the more advanced levels, which you know, takes a while, eventually you get things called crown skills. Yeah. And you get Apex apex is basically when you when you finally get this role, it's on the ultimate, I believe chart. When you get apex predator, you get a cool title, you know, of some type, and you get an extra level just on the spot with a big bonus to it. You gain the level of the apex skill. And what that'll do for you is it lets you start rolling extra dice just on top normally, you get Camden rolling for die for and then taking the highest Apex then you could technically as long as your bonuses get you up to a dipole high enough, roll five die for and take the highest. Oh, wow. So it starts kind of tilting, the level of power you can put out and you also get the crown skills and the crowd skills are the things that are like, sort of like capstones that lead you to being that Opie God level on things. Okay, if I were to if we were to actually have hit that level, which would probably not happen until like level 30 Or later, but you know, just show Character Creation. Cast probably like think that out of our group, most likely, um, well, our, our lovely snake with every attack skill.

Ryan Boelter  54:04

Probably shouldn't take

Melody - Mother Multiverse  54:05

the crown of destructions Oh, because it gives you just flat boost to attack dice. Yeah, just a greater and give you a bonus for fire magic, which you don't have at this time, but you might by then. And then the ultimate for it is that your tax can like destroy things permanently. Including like objects, locations, creatures, like if you kill somebody with it, they cannot be resurrected. That's it. They're they're gone. And additionally, you can do a thing where if you attack the zone you're in, and there's nothing there to challenge you. You can turn it into a destruction hazard zone. So it's almost like you just looked at that area and you went you know what this place is gonna be a turtle hellfire and they're like, Oh, amazing. So as far as like the rest of us I'm not 100% Sure on our singer because there's a lot of ways that can go like obviously they're gonna Yeah talk probably crown of command. Um, I was looking at that one gives you a boost to socializing you get the frost magic which you don't have now but you could and then eventually it becomes this whole thing of you start becoming like well, I met intelligent monster settlement and their first instinct is we're gonna work with you now because you're obviously powerful enough to lead and if you have like possession you're able to like perma possess people and your charm skill starts getting really gross to so for a very short character that's like kind of the kingmaker crown like the one where it's like nothing to build an army. For playing the bodyguard, I would have probably took the crown of imperviousness. Just given a boost to defense counterman magic and then eventually be able to create safe places and also Oh, you could put your safety onto somebody. And if they get okay, it's as if he you're getting hit instead. Hmm. So literally would be body guard at that point. Like Nope, you can't hurt them. Why did you gotta kill me to kill them?

Ryan Boelter  56:15

Oh, yeah. Now, a kind of command is cool for a goose. I'm gonna pause it kind of movement.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  56:24

Oh, God. Do you want to basically be kinda like the flash where you just get lots of extra bonds and you're all over the place?

Ryan Boelter  56:34

Yeah. moving at lightning round. Yeah. Lightning Lightning magic. I'm all for that.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  56:41

No crowd movement would be a good

Ryan Boelter  56:43

Oh, goodness. I just want to chaotic goose that just

Melody - Mother Multiverse  56:50

what is your line? Mother's

Ryan Boelter  56:50

there's this? Yep. Chaotic, goose. That's amazing.

Amelia Antrim  56:58

It's not good.

Ryan Boelter  57:04

The opposite of goose? Oh, goodness. That's amazing. I love seeing like even we went through what like 14 levels. Do you ever take and

Amelia Antrim  57:15

we still technically

Unknown Speaker  57:20

do champion? Yeah, really?

Melody - Mother Multiverse  57:25

Just so. So opens up those future weird opportunities where it's like they're all like, oh God, we're all terrified of the Necromancer. Somebody gets out some cards and they're like, alright, you get to live today. Shuffle. Yeah, forever, please.

Ryan Boelter  57:43

The cards I love the thought of like, eventually your character getting so powerful that you can summon cards, like as monsters. And like and call it out. Time for my blue eyes white dragon to enter the battlefield. It'd be amazing. Amazing.

Amelia Antrim  58:03

You did my trap card.

Melody - Mother Multiverse  58:05

Trap skill

Ryan Boelter  58:11

this is this has been really fun. I really enjoyed this. I can't wait. I can't wait to discuss this further in the next episode, but my goodness. One thing we never did what we didn't define our name said my magic word gave everybody okay.

Amelia Antrim  58:27

But but but I think that that would be great to do in our fanfiction section. Why we have those names?

Ryan Boelter  58:35

Like okay. Alright, mystery name coming in the fan fiction section of our discussion, so stay tuned for that everybody. Yeah. Oh, goodness. Very good.

Amelia Antrim  58:48

Well, thank you so much for joining us to discuss trash mob character creation. This was so much fun. Absolutely. This is a great time. Do you want to remind people where they can find you online?

Melody - Mother Multiverse  59:00

Sure. So look up mother multiverse media on itch or on? You can you could find me on Twitter as well. But I won't be able to do as much for you there. But if you go to if you go to it, that's where the game actually is. Uh, and yeah, those those are my main kind of stomping grounds right now.

Ryan Boelter  59:20

Wonderful. Well, thank you, Melody for being here. Thank you for joining us and thank you to everybody for listening. Please join us on the next episode for our discussion block a call to

Amelia Antrim  59:35

action. Yeah, like that. I really enjoyed the leveling up in this in this game. I know that we don't normally do it till the end. But I scribbled all over my sheet in different colors for every playing and by the end it was a beautiful rainbow. Yeah. I like we Every level has something you know.

Ryan Boelter  59:56

Yeah, like even the even the little levels. There was like a lot Make a lot of you know, quote unquote, we just got this one little boost thing but like, you know, it was it was still a boost. It wasn't just a hey, you leveled up against me. I think it made a difference to the story. Exactly. Yeah. And it's really cool because like everything that you level into it feels like has that narrative hook to it, which is really nice. Yeah, I

like it. Yeah, definitely. Before we let you go for the week, we have just a couple of calls to action as usual.

Ryan Boelter  1:00:30

One big reminder is to check out the one shot network Patreon. If you haven't yet at patreon.com/one Shot podcast. There are a lot of great benefits for joining. But the secret archive is probably one of the best parts where you get bonus content from shows all across the network, including ours. It also goes to a great cost, like getting a new microphone for Amelia after the old one was on its last leg. Yeah,

Amelia Antrim  1:00:57

yep, definitely needed it. I'm glad that we didn't have to, like have any ruined series or you know, be totally out one or anything like that. So in the nick of time, I'm really

Ryan Boelter  1:01:08

I'm really happy that we have it before the next recording as well, which is really nice.

Amelia Antrim  1:01:13

Definitely. Another thing that you can do to help our show specifically, is leave a rating or review on services like Apple podcasts, pod chaser Stitcher, podcast addict, other ones. If we find your five star review, we will read it out loud and say thank you on the show. We really love reading reviews, they make us feel so good. They're they're truly like we I know we always say but like we really do get excited about it. Yeah, they definitely make a difference to our days, especially in these rough times. And they kind of fuel us to keep doing the show and remind us that like, people love what we're doing. So it's always a good feeling. We are out of reviews right now. So we would really love some more.

Ryan Boelter  1:01:59

Absolutely. I just left a review for pandas talking games. On my podcast addict this morning. It took like two minutes. Nice. It's it's really easy to do. So if you're a podcast attic listener on Android, I believe that's all there is. You know, it's super easy to just go in there and leave a review. You can even rate episodes with thumbs up and thumbs down now and there, which is really cool. Yeah. So that's something to keep an eye out for. And if you're a Spotify listener, you can go to Spotify on the app and rate us there as well if you want. I don't think they have comments or reviews yet. But you can always throw a rating out there. That'd be pretty nice. Ah, that's it for our calls to action though we are thrilled to have you here with us during your week. Thank you so much for joining us. Until next time, stay safe, drink some water, get vaccinated and keep making those amazing people. We'll see you next time.

System mastery is a delightful stroll through the history of role playing games. Except the games are terrible, and the hosts are real jerks about everything. Join hosts Jeff and John as they explore the weirdest games ever made to talk about what worked, what went wrong, and which silverhawk was the best. It was heartbreaking don't even add us find their shows at system mastery. podcast.com or one shot podcast.com Finally,
